Clinton News -Record
The romance between a lovely Dutch girl, Yohanna
Voskamp, and Allan Neal, younger son of Mr.. and Mrs.
Russell Neal, RR 1, Clinton, culminated in marriage here on
Tuesday. They met in the summer of 1945 when Allan was
stationed at Brummen, Holland, with the RCASC, and have
been corresponding ever since his return from overseas in
November of that year.
The bride arrived in Clinton only three weeks ago, having
flown from Holland to New York, and thence travelled by
train to London. She left Amsterdam, Holland, at 4 pm on a
Tuesday, and was in London at 7:30 pm on the Thursday. This
truly is an age of speed.
In good English she informed the Clinton News -Record that.
the food and clothing situation is not so good in her native
land, and she is sure she will like Canada.

Thirty-five years later, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Neal are still
happily married and live a fullflWng life in their Clinton
home. Mrs. Neal, a wartime bride from Holland, never
regretted her trip to Canada, to marry the soldier from
Goderich Township. (Shelley McPhee photo)
A sprinkling of names
in new phone books
In April of 1956 Clinton
telephone users were in-
troduced to a brand new,
modern product of the age of
technology - dial service.
With the individual use of
the dial came the birth of
new pink telephone books
listing everyone's name and
new phone number. The
editor of the Clinton News -
Record in the April 12. 1966
edition of the paper, after
studying the pink books
'commented, "...there is a
fair sprinkling of new names
m the new pink directory:
such a Kuiper, Krziyzek,
Kraszewski, Koene, Manko.
Horneman, Dykstra, Decoo,
Doney, Fatum, Fyvie,
Ouimet, Verhtieef. Whatley,
Van Riesen and Won -
