God is in the saivage business
Minister's
study
are so many young people in
them. Most offenders are not
middle-aged nor old; our
courts and jails handle late
model wrecks. Can you im-
agine anything more tragic
than young lives that are be-
ing ruined?
Late model wrecks! Most
divorces occur not among
those who have been mar-
ried for many years, but
among those who have been
married a comparatively
short time. Something goes
wrong and newly made
homes are wrecked. What a
sad sight to see recently
created homes break up.
But wait - didn't Jesus
talk about late model
wrecks? Most definitely He
did! He could and did tell
stories about late model
wrecks. It wasn't about pro-
digal grandfathers about
which He wove His in-
teresting and provoking
stories. Rather, it was the
young lawyer, the . woman
taken in adultery, the pro-
digal and his brother .- all
late model wrecks. Young
lives smashed and twisted as
they went off course. Well,
did you know that God can do
something with wrecked
lives? Human wrecks can be
rebuilt by the grace of God.
It was John Newton, the
drunken sailor whose life
haft been wasted and ruined
by sin, who cried out to God
for salvation. Jesus rebuilt
his life, and he wrote the
words, "Amazing grace,
how sweet the sound that
saved a wretch like me; I
once was lost but now am
found, was blind but . now I
see".
Yes, God is in the salvage
business, taking twisted and
broken lives and making
them whole again. This is the
Good News: lives can be
straightened out again -
even young lives.

Only Charlie Brown
has good grief.
To the rest of us grief is very bad. And very real.
Because grief brought on by death, divorce, or
serious illness is no laughing matter.
Where do you go when you can't cope with your
troubles? Well, we know Somebody who's used
to handling big -problems: And He's used to corn-
forting the people who have them. Nothing's too
big fora personal -God. who really cares,
• We believe that a personal relationship with God
does a lot more than console you. It gives new
hope and meaning to life. A life that doesn't end
with death:
. Wouldn't it be nice to know Somebody who's
bigger than your troubles?
