grown to a membership of
over 250,000 members in 31
countries. From .a small
social and cultural group,
Beta Sigma Phi has grown

to charitable and service
efforts as well.

Chaperones irn p ressed GODERICHSIGNAL-STAR, WEDNESDAY, MAY 13,1
with students on music trip
Dear Editor:
An open letter to Mr. John
Stringer, Principal,
Goderich District Collegiate
Institute and to the parents
of all the students of the
school who participated in
the Music Exchange with
Vincent Massey Secondary
School in Windsor, from
which • we returned last
Saturday afternoon.
As parent chaperones of
the 88 students on the trip to
Windsor last week, we would
like to comment
You may remember that
as parent chaperones iast
year we were impresse
with the students who par-
ticipated in the music ex-
change with Bay City,
Michigan. This year we were
equally, if not more im-
pressed with the deportment
and attitude of the students
in the music program at
GDCI.
In the four days we spent
with the students, we do not
know of any student who did
not conduct herself or
himself properly. During the
time in Windsor, many of the
parents who were billeting
our studentscame to us to
tell us how much they were
en ging our stnriants. Many
also came and commented
favourably on the students'
appearance while they were
performing. (This is, of
course, a thank you to the
Goderich Music Booster
Club and also to the students
who have been working hard
to supply attractive
uniforms for all the bands
and the choir). And we must
admit that all of them looked
very smart andprofessional,
We were taken on two
tours through the Chrysler
Plant and it was quite a
feather in our caps when
they commented that our
groups were the best high
school groups they had ever
taken on our tour through the
plant! Both our bus drivers,
one of whom travelled with
us last year, also stated that
they would like to travel with
us again next year on our
music exchange. Quite a
compliment!
Musically, the three
concerts were excellent and
played to capacity crowds.
All received standing
ovations. We would him to
especially mention the
Choir, who performed
especially well and to
mention Eleanor and
Warren Rottman of the
English Department, who
work with the. Choir in their
"spare time". Warren also
acted as Master of
..cap" "close e=h w w
and of course was moat
enjoyable. The Concert
