Maintaining a sense of
humor is an important asset
for a volunteer. That was the
message from Rev. J. M.
Williams when he spoke to
the Region Two hospital aux-
iliary members at a con-
ference in Exeter on Mon-
day, April 22.
The South Huron Hospital
Auxiliary hosted the. con -
0 attend auxiliary conference
ference, which included 22
hospitals in the Region Two
district, an area extending
from Tillsonburg to
Wingham and Goderich.
About 276 auxiliary
members attended the con-
ference, which was held at
the South Huron Rec Centre.
Father Williams of Strat-
ford was the guest speaker
and he stressed the impor-
tance of having a sense of
humor and being a
volunteer. He said that
volunteers need the ability to
laugh and make other people
happy.
"How many people can
relax with you, laugh
because of you, not at you?"
Father Williams asked. He
quoted an old sal g,. "If
your religion makes ou sad,
it's bad," adding t the
word "life" c ' id be
substituted for " ligion".
He explained that most peo-
ple in a hospital are unhap-
py, and that a hospital
volunteer must strive to
make them happy"We need
to be open-minded, thank
