Mr. and Mrs. Harold Doak Mark golden year A beautiful arrangement of flowers from the Town of Goderich and numerous other flowers and plants from friends provided a lovely setting at the home of Mr..and Mrs. Harold Doak, 179 South Street, Goderich when- a `Happy Hour' was held on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary on Saturday, April 11. Scrolls and letters of congratulations from the government of Canada, provincial assembly, leaders of the opposition, M.P. Murray Cardiff and Goderich mayor Harry Worsell added to the. pleasures of the day. A highlight of the day was the: presentation of a beautiful German chime clock by Mr. and Mrs. Doak's children. Guests were welcomed at the door. by their two sons and received in the the living room by their daughter. and daughters-in-law. The grandchildren 'served lunch and refreshments throughout the afternoon. In the evening a family dinner was held at the Candlelight Restaurant with toasts by the grandchildren Belgrave man hailed as hero WINGHAM - A Belgrave area man is being hailed:as a liero f' a partite played in rescue., :3 victim- of a fiery auto crash near Durham recently. • Clifford Coultes maintains there was nothing that heroic about it; all he did was make his way to the blazing car and pull the injured man, Brad Kearns, 21, of Pickering, further frau the vehicle so he would not be burned. However, Constable Bill Pearson of the Markham OPP said Mr. Coultes un- doubtedly saved the man's life, adding that he planned :to recommend in his report that some type of award be considered. Mr. Coultes was the first to arrive at the scene of the accident along Highway 4 just east of Durham, having seen the flames from several miles down the road. to the grandparents amid much merriment. Mr. and Mrs. Doak have three children, Barry of Kincardine, Grace Adams of Waterloo and Carman of London. They also have six grandchildren. They wish to. thank their children and grandchildren and all those who assisted in any way for the warmth and love so generously shown ' on their special day.
