Belgrave man hailed as hero
WINGHAM - A Belgrave
area man is being hailed:as a
liero f' a partite played in
rescue., :3 victim- of a fiery
auto crash near Durham
recently. •
Clifford Coultes maintains
there was nothing that heroic
about it; all he did was make
his way to the blazing car
and pull the injured man,
Brad Kearns, 21, of
Pickering, further frau the
vehicle so he would not be
burned.
However, Constable Bill
Pearson of the Markham
OPP said Mr. Coultes un-
doubtedly saved the man's
life, adding that he planned
:to recommend in his report
that some type of award be
considered.
Mr. Coultes was the first to
arrive at the scene of the
accident along Highway 4
just east of Durham, having
seen the flames from several
miles down the road.
to the grandparents amid
much merriment.
Mr. and Mrs. Doak have
three children, Barry of
Kincardine, Grace Adams of
Waterloo and Carman of
London. They also have six
grandchildren. They wish to.
thank their children and
grandchildren and all those
who assisted in any way for
the warmth and love so
generously shown ' on their
special day.

the harbor, the CNR station and the CPR
station. The book gives particulars about
the history and design of the town and its
various buildings.
The book is really a tribute from a man
who has chosen to live- and work in this
area, ,not because Ile was born here, but
because he appreciates the character,
culture and beauty it has to offer. It
illuminates an historic urban form of great
value and beauty.
