There was a splendid crowd with people from Victoria United Church in Goderich and Holmesville United Church and other friends attending. The -_ auction started _. around 1 pan. and during the auction, lunch was served. Several members of the Irish Unit took their turn at auctioneering while others helped in different ways - such as serving tea, atten- 4ding to the bake sale and working with the auction. The afternoon receipts were encouraging and will help considerably withthe group's projects. The Irish Unit also had a boothat the auction sale for the estate of Ken Morris on Saturday. Recreation committee Colborne Township Recreation Committee met in Colborne Township Hall Wednesday, April 15 at 8 p.m. President . Leonard Fisher opened the meeting -and secretary, Mrs. Helen Riehl read the minutes of last meeting. The first item of business involved the plans for soft- ball- this season. It was decided to have registration for softball and T -ball for boys and girls of all ages on Saturday, May 9 in Colborne Township Hall from 10 a.m. Colborne corner Gertrude Kaitting., correspondent 524-2076 to noon. Those in charge mentioned the fact that it is very important for children to register on May 9 so teams can be arranged and children who are interested in playing these games will be sure to be included in the teams when they are drawn up. It also giVes the coaches a chance to get in touch with their teams well in advance to .when they start playing. It is hoped that soccer will be played again this year. • Euchre card parties have proved satisfadtory and have been enjoyed by all who have participated. Swimming plans and class arrangements will be an- nounced later. The Recreation Commit- tee will hold its next meeting on Wednesday,.June2. The contest is open to children aged 6 to 12. There are two age groups, 6 to 9 and 10 to 12. Prizes will be awarded in both age groups. The contest is now in full swing and all entries must be at the Goderich Branch Library by closing time Saturday, May 9. The draw- ing must appear on an 81/2 inch by 11 inch piece of paper available at the local library.
