Canada's Pied Piper is
coming to Goderich
Bobby Gimby and his .
dance band will have
Goderich swinging to his
trumpet on May 9 when the',
Lions Club will be sponsoring
a spring dance, held in the
arena, on the main floor, to
raise money for the Goderich
Laketown Band. ..
Gimby has been on the
Canadian music scene for
several decades, first
knowing fame on radio as
one of the Nappy Gang in the
1940s.
For the 1967 Centennial, he
wrolii the popular children's
song `Canada'. Since then, he
has toured around promoting
Canadian patriotism among
•

He also plays at such
events as Octoberfest in
Kitchener, and at other
festivals.
Gimby played in Goderich
back in the 1940s when Roy
Breckenridge ran the
Goderich Pavilion, which
started - a long friendship
between Gimby and
Breckenridge. .
Support CF balloon day

will be holding a balloon day
Oil Saturday, May 2 from 10
a.m. until 2 p.m in support •
of the Cystic Fibrosis
Foundation.
Kinettes dressed as
colorful clownswill.'be_giving
out about 1,000 balloons
around town and asking for
donations in return. Please
be generoouµs and give a child
the breath\of life.

Hospital Auxiliary held on
Monday, April 20. Mr.
Moriarity- spoke :on the role
of the volunteer in the
Psychiatric Unit. He said he
would like the volunteers to
be visible in the unit as they
represent the outside world
to the patients.
Mr. Moriarity said he
would like to see the
auxiliary establish a library,
help with parties and
develop interests for the
patients such as typing,
public speaking, drama,
crafts, sports and other
outside-oactivities. A need
was expressed for evening
activities, such as bingo, card
games, music appreciation,
etc.
It is hoped that all
auxilians and any interest@d
citizens will look forwa
with anticipation to this new
challenge in patient service.
