Village trustees discuss renovations to library and hall

The April meeting of the
Auburn Village Trustees was
held last Saturday evening in
the town hail with the chair°
man, Warner Andrews
,presiding.
The minutes were adopted
as read by the village clerk,
Mrs. Ross Dobie.
Prices were reviewed on
redi-mix cement for
sidewalks and also ' on the
pole for the light at Man-
chester Garden.
Dogs are on the loose
again in the village and this
matter was brought up. Dog
tag prices are going up
again.
The renovations to ' the
town hall and library were
discussed and the trustees
will try to get some help
through grants that may bee
available �.
George Collins was pre-
sent and stated that there
was trouble with the drain
down the side of the hill. He
said that during spring run-
off,. his house was flooded
and this. burned. out his fur
race motor. He asked to
have • this matter in
vestigated.

Women's Missionary Society •
met last Wednesday evening

The Easter -devotional was.
in-the'•charge-of Mrs. Frank •
Raithby and the theme was
"Darkness, Then The
Dawn". She was assisted in.
riding by Mrs. Lillialn =
Letherland,- Mrs.rances
Clark, Mrs. Warner An-
drews and 'Mrs.' Roy Daer.
Several Easter hymns were -
read- throughout the -devo-
tional and this part was dos-
ed with the' Apostle's Creed
and prayer.
The study theme.. was
taken by Mrs. Eleanor Brad -
nock on the mission work
done in the Philippines with
the famous slogan, "Each,
One - Teach One".
The minutes were ac-
cepted as read by the
secretary, Mrs. Lillian
Letherland. The financial
statement was given by the
treasurer, Mrs. Frances
Clark.
An invitation to a Goderich
• W.M.S. meeting was ac-
cepted and it Was announced
that the Fordwich United
Church Choir, under the
leadership of Mrs. Ron
Livermore, would present an
Easter cantata on Sunday
evening . in Knox United
Church at 8 p.m.
The roll call was answered
by a Bible verse containing
the word "Risen". •
The -offering, was received
by Jennifer Stadelmann and
dedicated with prayer by
Mrs. Sanderson. Lunch was
served by Mrs. Letherland.
Silver Tops
Forney -eight members of
the Silver Tops enjoyed a hot
roast beef dinner last
Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. The
president, Ross Robinson
said Grace and the dinner

Haggitt; Mrs. Donald
Haines, Mrs. Tom Lawlor,
Mrs. Emerson Rodger and
Mrs. Reg Shultz.,
After dinner all' enjoyed
the films, "Stompin' Tom",
"Beaver Valley" and "The
Leader Dog" . which the
Lions Club use for their pro-
ject
Walkerburn Club •
The Walkerbu ` Club held
its 'monthly meeting last
Week at the home of Mrs.
.Manfred.Losereit.. The.presi-
dent, Mrs. Lloyd Penfound
opened the meeting with two
readings,' "Did You
Forget?" ',and "To, My
Grown-up Son 0 Canada
was sung followed by prayer
by Mrs. Gerry Huizinga.
The minutes of the
previous meeting were ac-
cepted as ...read by Mrs.
Marian 'Flunking. Mrs. Ted
Honking gave, the .financial
statement. The, roll call was
_answered by 13 . members
and two visitors by • telling, --
"Something funny your
children or grandchildren
have said or done'.".
The draw prize, donated
by Mrs. Arthur, Wright, was
won by Mrs. Elliott Lapp.
A thank -you note was read
from Mrs. Lorne Husking: •
Mrs. Lloyd Penfound thank-
ed the club members for the
quilt and grocery items she
had received.
A bake and craft sale was
held with Mrs. Leonard Ar-
chambault as auctioneer.
• Plans were made to hold
the next meeting April 28 at
the home of Mrs. Roy Daer.
The program will be in the
charge of Mrs. Keith Lapp
and Mrs. Ted Husking. The
lunch will be in the charge of
Mrs. Roy Daer and Mrs.
Ronald Gross.
Mrs. Leonard Archam-
bault gave two readings.
Lunch was. served by Mrs.
Keith. Lapp, Mrs. Ted Hunk-
ing and Mrs. Losereit.

ham bingo ' last Saturday
evening with a good atten-
dance. Hams were won by

day evening at the Blyth
Community Centre in sup;

Pioneers of America. She is

The annual meeting of the
Kingsbridge C.W.L. was

In the Goderich area, the
Tecumseh Council of
Telephone Pioneers is in-
volved in community service
projects.

representing Ontario region
in Winnipeg at the Regional
Assembly and in September
at the General Assembly it
