Due to location and tree diseases, the type of trees to be planted shall be at the discretion of the Town: .however, owner preference will be accommodated when possible. If you wish a 'tree(s) to be planted In front of your residence or business, please contact the office of the Commissioner of Works, Mr. Kenneth C. Hunter at 524- 9492 beforeApril 17, 1981. Ride for Career •scheduled for Sun- qday, Apri1.26, • This is the fourthyear in a row that the. Goderich Kinsmen : and Ithtette Clubs have organitied the bike ride for the Goderich Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society. _Each -year; the- ride has proven more popular and last year's event at= tracted 1,46 riders who raised over 1$;0404 cancer research. This year's ride will continence at2 p.m. from the Suncoast `Mall parking lot. Registration Will take place at the mall ,from noon until 1:30p.m. A designated in ;town route of '20" kilometers will be 'followed: This route is _:tile same as,last year's. Closer to the date of the ride, this newspaper will feature a map with the route clearly marked ,on it. The : various check points will also be marked. Rest centres will be set up . at the Kinsmen Centre and Judith Goodetham Park. Pop and cookies will be given out at the end of the_ride and each person who completes the route will receive a Certificate from the. Cancer Society.. Pledge sheets can be picked up at any bank in Goderich as well as at Kirkey's Texaco, Beckers,. Macs Milk, the A&P and Zehrs. Pledges must be collected within two weeks following the ride and taken to the Bank of NMpntreal. Official receipts will, be issued for pledges of $.5 or more, unless otherwise requested. Proceedsof the ride •should be designated Cancer Campaign of the Goderich Branch, Canadian Cancer Society. ' The ride is not limited ti9, women (some confusion exists because the event was originally organized under the name `Ladies', Great. Bike Ride for Cancer'). In fact, family participation is encouraged. But any child under 12must be ac- companied by an adult As with any event of this nature, there are certain rules and regulations which must be adhered to. Participants must, ride singlefile-30 feet apart; ride with the traffic; yield to trafficwhen necessary; use signals to warn drivers of moves; and adjust speed to ensure control of bikes. Participants are at their own risk. If involvement coud endanger your health, you are requested to with- draw. I you need help, there will be follow-up vehicle. . More information about the bike ride can be received from Jeff Fisher who is organizing on behalf of the Kinsmen Club this year. Let's hope the town has even more participants and raises -even more money than last year.
