Schedule is bush at new cornmunity centre

of God's love in his sermon.
This Sunday, April 12
Palm Sunday will be
remembered with com-
munion.
Seniors meet
The Goderich Township
Enterprising Seniors held
their monthly -meeting on
April 2 in the community
centre.
Mrs. Jean Lobb was in
charge of the .meeting and
she welcomed everyone to
the meeting with a reading.
Mrs. Cudmore gave the
minutes of the Last meeting
and Fran Powell gave the
treasurer's report. The card

report was presented by
Blanche Deeves and a thank
you note was received from
the Rueger family.
It was announced that the
mauve quilt has been
completed and another is in
the frame and ready to be
stitched.
A representative will be
attending a future meeting to

demonstrate carpet bowling.
Other clubs have been in-
vited to take part in this
demonstration.
A report was given on the
District 8 seniors rally which
will be held on April 28 at the
Vanastra Recreation Centre.
Registration will take place
at 9:30 am, with a $1 fee.

spent the winter months with
relatives in Detroit and other
areas in the States.
Mary VanRooy, London
spent the weekend with, her
parents. John and Jean
VanRooy and family.
�. . Marianne Miltenbtug,
student at the University of
Guelph visited on the week-
end with her parents, Reis
and Marie Miltenburg and
family, and visited with her
brother, Maurice, who is in
University Hospital', London.
John and Sally Van Osch
and family of Waterloo, and
Jack Van Osch, Lucknow,
were Sunday visitors with
Antone and Delores Van
Osch and family.
Mrs. Clarice Dalton and
family attended the wedding
of her nephew Christopher
Lalonde in Orillia on Satur-
day.
At the weekly card party
held in the Parish Hall on
Wednesday evening, March
25, the winners were, ladies'
high, tied between Teresa
Courtney and Catherine Aus-
tin, the winner was Cath-
erine Austin; men's high was
Jim Doherty. Consolation
winners were Annie
VanDiepenbeek and Joe
Courtney. The door prize was
won by John Austin.
Last Wednesday, April 1.
the winners were: ladies'
high, Teresa Courtney,
men's high, Mike O'Neill,
consolation winners were
Betty Lou Dalton and Basil
Hogan. The door prize was
won by Rita. Howard.
The final card party will be
held this week (tonight) be-
ginning at 9 p.m. sponsored
by the Kingsbridge Area
Seniors with lunch and prizes
including a door prize.

turned home on Friday after
a three week vacation in
Florida.

The Sports Officers of the Ladies Legion
Auxiliary would like to thank all the mer-
chants who so kindly donated to their An-
nual Invitational Bowling Tournament
which was held on March 28th, 1981. We also
wish to thank Harry Little and all the
scorekeepers during the day. We had 204
bowlers, and so, without your support and
help, our day would not have been such a
success.

The Enterprising Seniors
received an invitation to
attend the April 22 card
party and the Clinton Legion.
Proceeds from the event will
go towards the Clinton
hospital building fund.
The Seniors will meet
again on April 16 at 8 pm.
Mrs. Iona Blake's daughter
and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Reid of Varna will
show slides of their trip to
the Hawaiian islands. Mrs.
Blake and Mary Stirling will
be in charge of the en-
tertainment and lunch.
Following the April 2
meeting, the recreation
committee entertained the
Seniors with a shuffleboard
tournament, card games and
crokinole matches. The
grand champions at shuf-
fleboard were Irene Cud -
more and Bert McCreath.
The consolation prize went to
Hazel McCreath and Fran
Powell.
In euchre the winners
included: ladies' high, Orpha
Hertbohmer; men's high, Ed
Deeves; ladies' low, Grace
Walter; men's low, Bill
Norman.
All the winners received a
rose bush es their prize, and
a delicious lunch of cheese
and fruit bread was served
with coffee. Mrs. Lobb
thanked the recreation
committee for their efforts
and the enjoyable evening
they, provided for the
Seniors. -
News and notes .
The community centre at
Holmesville has another..
busy schedule for the month.
On April 4 an anniversary
luncheon was served for Mr.
and Mrs. Kaastra and.family
and in the evening the Trail
Riders Saddle Club held
their dance': On April 6 the
executive planning meeting
of the Huron West Women's
Institute was held.
The Spring Fling dance is -
scheduled for April. 11 and a
banquet for 250 will be held
on April 15 when the
Tuckersmith, Stanley and
Goderich Township
Federation of Agriculture
groups meet. On April 24 the
Happy Hookers will. be
holding a dance and on April
25 the Knights of Columbus
of Goderich will hold a police
and firemen appreciation
"night.
The Goderich Township
WI will hold a card party on
April 9 in the community
centre in Hohnesville. The
party will get underway at 8
pm, admission is $1 and
ladies are asked to bring
lunch.
The WI will be holding
their April meeting on the
13th in the community centre
at 8 pm.
