The- -GDCI J- for Viking- boys
basketball team claimed the Huron -
Perth championship Tuesday afternoon
to the resounding cheers of their home
school crowd.
They defeated Mitchell by a decisive
score of 69-42. It was their second win in a
row in the teams' best of three final
series. Coach Lynn Meyers and his
Vikings now travel to WOSSA on Friday
for Western Ontario competition along
with the Senior Vikings who finished
seennd in their league.
- The Vikings took command of the
game right from the beginning as they
scored basket after basket on the
overwhehned Mitchell Gagers. The score
after the first quarter was 20-6, and at the
half, 38-16.
High scorer for the Vikings was cap-
tain Ben Melick who hit for 24 points. Don
McCallam scored 20, and Chris Pitre 12.
Rounding out the Vikiqigscorers were
Jeff -Dense -rime with eight° -points, David
More three, and Andrew Telford two.

Atoms won their game
against Sarnia Township 6-4
in Goderich on Sunday to tie
the two=out-of-three series at
one each in OMH4 play-off
action. The Goderich boys
lost their first game against
the township last Tuesday
night 10-6.

scoring for Goderich on a
pass from Chris White. In the -

Blue Devils enjoyed a
marked height advantage
over the Vikings. Mark

winding up with 21 points.
