The band not only played __rousing- -renditions- et —the - party's theme song, but led the iudience in an upbeat singsong after `dinner with gospel tunes like "Rock my soul." The message, delivered to about 400 party faithful at the Exeter Legion Ball, was that the Tories will win in Huron -Middlesex on March 19. Exeter mayor Bruce Shari, former PC provincial riding association president, predicted in his remarks that "the time is right for c,hante" in Huron - z Middlesex, predicting the riding's MPP will be a Tory after March 19. Liberal Jack Riddell has represented -the riding since a 1973 by- election. ' When PC candidate Jim Britnell of Goderich address- ed dinner guests, he also em- phaeized his belief the tide is turningin the ridings Mr. Britnell,- former Huron County engineer, said he was to 4ormHuron — MPP Charles McNaughton, and : -the two concluded "somewhere out there are a : - lot of Tories that • can be found again." He emphasized again, as he has throughout the cam= paign, that the Liberal Party is, conducting a negative campaign. Premier Davis said "Dr. ' Negative"; his nickname for Liberal leader Stuart Smith, is not offering any concrete .suggestions of what he and his party will do for the province if they're elected. Remembering his , rural audience, Premier Davis said his government has made a commitment "with respect to upgrading agricultural land" - mention - big .the Tile Drainage Loan program as evidence of this.
