Exeter opened the second period with a quick goal to lie it up before Goderich surged into the leadwithffour- middle period goals. The first one came one minute after the Exeter goal from Dave Graf who was set up by Bill Lewis and Paul. Corriveau. The next goal came at 7:15 on a Goderich power play when Phil Paquette netted one. Kolkman and Rob Standen drew assists on the play. Doug Smith made it 4-1 for the Flyers at 16:09 on a play set up by Larry Gaynor. One more second period - goal, by Paul Corriveati and assisted by- Ron. Corriveau, made it -5 1: Twenty-seven seconds into the third period, Exeter notched their second goal. However, the Flyers an- swered with two more from Lewis and Paquette to make it 7-2. Exeter turned on the power to attempt a comeback and managed' to score three goals on Flyer netminder Percy Bedard, but the time ran out and Goderich won the game. Forest opened the Petrolia tjes Juvenileseries The Goderich Signal -Star Juveniles lost Saturday's playoff game in Petrolia by a score .of 6.3. The opening best -of -five series now stands at one win for each team. Petrolia scored five consecutive goals inthe first two periods to take a 5-0 lead before Goderich could an- swer with their first goal at 14:38 of the second period. Rob McDonald netted the goal on a play set up by Dave Moore a nd Jeff Denomy. At 6:09 of th, third period, Moore made it 5-2 on a shot assisted by Steve Lobb. A little over a minute later, Randy Graham's shot found the mark. He was assisted by Moore and McDonald on the play. Petrolia stoPPed the Juveniles' attack, however and countered with their sixth goal at 11:32. The Juveniles will be travelling to Petrolia again this Saturday evening, and on Sunday afternoon they will host Petrolia for the fourth game of the series. Viks lose first - BY TD The GDCI Senior Vikings suffered their first loss in Huron -Perth Conference boys' basketball play Thursday in Stratford' when they were set down, 52 - 47 by the Strafford Northwestern Huskies. The win puts the Huskies on top of the stan- dings with an 8 - 0 record while the ' Vikings ,slipped into second place with a 7 -1 won -lost record. • The Vikings were flat at the Start of Thursday'stime and' The Huskies led 24 - 19 at half time. • In the second half, the Vikings played the Huskies even, with each team getting 28 points but the Vikings scoring .59 -,seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead. At. 17:12. Goderich finally tied it up on a goal by Rick Fremlin, assisted by Dan Duncan and Ken Merianri. One minute later the Sailors scored again to take the, lead, this time on a shot by Paul Kelly. Jim Hayter drew an assist on the play. After Mt. Forest tied it up then scored . a power play goal .in the second period, Tun' McLean notched an unassisted 'goal for the Sailors to even the score once more. •. Miller) and adopted by Green Ranger (Donald Bayer),, seconded by Gentle -Ben. The May 9 car rally was discussed with Bruce Manze, Walter Thomas and Ken. Cutt. The club, on motion from Mr. Rocky (RoyKaminska), voted to give donations to two area families who recently lost their homes to fire. . CB Club meetings are held the second Sunday of each month. Viking coach Phil- Bugler put .it down to an attitude problem on the part of the Vikings, .. explaining, "vie: • didn't come to play." Bugler felt that given the right attitude, his team could easily have reversed the score, but Bugler was quick to pay tribute to the Huskies as "a fineteam," Jim Costello hit for 14 Viking points: Ted Doherty added 12 and Phil Aubin got 11.
