Society held their annual
meeting on Tuesday, Janu-
ary 27 with a fair attendance.
President Bob Wright cal-
led the meeting to order. He
spoke a few words on his past
years as president and refer-
red to the improvements that
have been made to both
exterior and interior of the
hall. He praised the directors
who had so capably assisted
him during his term of office.
Judy Kerr read the minut-
es of the 1980 annual meet-
ing in the absence of secret-
ary Sandy McWhinney.
Tom Webster was present-
ed with a service diploma by
Bob Wright on behalf of the
Agriculture Society, for his
contribution to the Society
over the years.
Bob Wright then called on
Fred Durst of Durst, Vodden
and Bender for the 1980
financial report.
Jack Caesar conducted the
election of • officers. Ross
Brindley is the new president'„

with Randy Kerr as first vice
and Arnold Stothers as sec-
ond vice. Virginia Caesar
was acclaimed as secretary
and Lynda McNee will serve
again as treasurer.
Six directors were nomin-
ated for a three year term
and four were elected includ-
ingLynda McNee: Bob -Mc-
Neil, Ross Brindley and
Arnold Stothers.
Two directors were elect-
ed, of four nominated, for a
two year term: Carol Nivins
and Jack Pentland. Diane
Park and Bob Wright will
serve a one year term.
It was decided to hold the
fair Friday, August 21 and
Saturday August 22 as too
many fairs are held around
the same time in September
and by. October the weather
is unpredictable.
Delegates to the conven-
tion in Toronto this year on
February 18 and 19 will be
Lynda McNee, Diane Park.

On Monday of last week, a

born at the Wingham and
District Hospital. Then on
Thursday morning, a. son.

Barb Van Diepenbeek. was
;born at, the -same. hospital...
Our congratulations go out to

Hospital. We wish her a
speedy recovery.
Leona Hogan moved to
Goderich from Woodstock on
the weekend -where she -has
accepted a position at the
Alexandra Marine and Gen-
eral Hospital. Goderich. as a
lab technician.
Bruce and Ann Pritchard
of Milton .visited with her
mother. Clarice. Dalton and
family on the weekend.

when the threads interlock in
the middle of the fabric
layers. Minor tension ad-

when switching from one
type of fabric or thread to
another. Whenever possible,
use the same thread for both
the upper and lower, or use a
somewhat thinner thread for
the bobbin than for the upper
thread. .

wi l be held in the new hall on
Thursday, February 12,
beginning at 1:30 pm.
Admission is $1.50 and

Thursday evening when 65
people turned out for an
evening of euchre. The
winners were: men's high,
Frank Thompson; ladies'
high, Molly Cox; men's low,
Will Porter; ladies' low,
Elva Cox; lone hands, Betty
Thompson; lucky chair,
Everett Mdllwain; lucky
cup, Elva Cox.
The Holmesville UCW will
meet in the church hall on

on Monday, February 9 at 2

by the Crusaders' interest in
the East. Europe was enjoy -

sion of woollen cloth
manufacturing. The new fit-
ted style required more com-
plicated construction in
garments. At first the pat-
terns were made of paper
and later ofcloth...they were
outlines and nothing more.
They came in one size, and
were adjusted by eye.
Only tailors were allowed
to use patterns and sew
clothes until Louis XIV
granted seamstresses the
right to make women's and
children's apparel in the 17th
Century. Louis XIV wanted
