Round 'n
About......
• from vitae 8A
all- wouldn't you knows ,
Anyway.._ he shot ahead
and I prepared to follow and
pull over off the slow lane,
but he kept on going. Later
we saw him in the media (or
whatever you call it) ready
to turn back.
I think he had followed for
quite a while and knew I was
not speeding. He just wanted
to let me know I shouldn't
relax.
So, that shock floe up and
on thinking about being toe
far from Sarasota, to get in
that night, I decided to pull in
for the night.
It would have, been about
that time that son Doug saw
us. He was headed for
Atlanta and we were leaving
it. That was tentofourandat
four I said, "Let's quit" and
did.: So, he called Madeline
and told her we were not too
far away - should be in about
2:30 or 3 on Monday. That
was exactly the time I thh't
we would be getting in!
I missed a turn' out of
Tampa, was too far over
with too much traffic to
catch it, but tock the neat cut
off - first thing I" knew we
were on our way to the
Skyway Bridge 'and -I had
hoped to miss it. '
Believe me, there is a real
gap in one side of that
bridge. I think about a
quarter of a mile_of it is
missing! • This „ vividly
reminded us of `the way
everyone had watched the
TV for days anddays when
one bad accident after
another had happened. That
bridge was doomed!
That is a bng trek, over
half a hundred bridges - I'm
sure! 50! We finally wrestled
our way thru' Bradenton and
we had it made. f. hadn't
found my key for the house.
So decided to stop at gran-
ddaughter Linda's - in
Sarasota to call and see if
Doug had a key. So,
Madeline had the keys and
Doug was in Atlanta and we
were in Sarasota by3 o'clock
just as he figured. So.
Madeline's son Jimmy came
to Sarasota and after dinner
we ope ned up the `hou.e'.
I haven't found my ring of
keys yet. I have a sneaky
feeling they're sitting at
home with some other things
I didn't pick up because=
guess who was sifting there
- shaving kit in hand - the
only thing he had to worry
about - sitting there blowing
the ' HORN(! ONE OF
THESE DAYS!! I bice the
.way Gleason says it.
We are glad to be here -
cold or no - because I'm sure
it's a lot colder back hone.
Walt . became over-
enthusiastic today - I had to
go wt - was gone a couple of
hours - and camperly had
come over. He was GLORY -
EYED! I fed him right
away. Then he decided to go
to bed -_ 6 _o'clock. An hour
later he°wasasking if supper
was ready. When I said he
had HAD it - he went back to
bed! Eight hours later he's
still asleep! Never a dull
moment!
Call that friend and show
you care,
Love, Martht
