will go bowling.

Women's Day Out meets
every Wednesday at
MacKay Centre from 9:30 to
11 a.m. Coffee and

284, Order of the Eastern
Star, will canvass for the
Heart Fund in Goderich
from February 9 to 23. Co-
ordinator of the canvass is
Joan Stiles. All money
collected will go -toward the
research and treatment of
heart disease.

Parents and students
see slides on computers

KURRICULUM
On Monday evening of last
week a slide presentation
"When the Chips are Down"
was shown to the parents and
interested students of the
school. It was based on the
influence of electronics and
computers on the world in
coming years,
On Friday morning, Mr.
Howe of the French Depart-
ment of the Goderich District
Collegiate,- came to the
school to talk to the students
of grades seven and eight
and also had interviews with
any parents who wished to
meet with him.
At present. the grades
from four to eight are prepar-
ing their speeches for the
annual Garvey Public Speak-
ing Competition to be held
the middle of February.
SOCIAL NEWS
The community extends
their deepest sympathy to
Walter Kelly on the passing
of his sister, Mrs. Bridget
Hodgins of Sarnia this past
week. Bridget, who has been
ill for a lengthy time, was
raised in this community.
Several from the Kings-
bridge and Kintail area were
guests at the wedding recep-
tion of Jean McDonald and
• Tom Rysstad on Saturday
evening at the Maitland Golf
and Country Club, Goderich.
Jean is the daughter of Mrs.
• Helen McDonald of Goder-
ich, and the late Bill McDon-
ald, who at one time owned
the Kintail General. Store.
Stuart and Bernie Smith
were Monday evening visit-
ors with Antone and Delores
Van Osch and family.
Several from the area at-
tended the card party spon-
sored . by the Goderich
Knights of Columbus, on
Friday evening.
Brother Carl Voll received
word that Father Ed Dentin -
ger and Father 'Hauser of
-Kitchener arrived safely at
Saratoga, Florida and are
enjoying themselves.
Ladies' volleyball is still
going strong on Tuesday ev-
enings from eight to ten
o'clock. There is still room
for more ladies interested in
playing.
On Sunday afternoon Mar-
vin and Donnie Scott took out.
their teams of horses and two
sleighs and membersof the
Scott families. as well as a
few neighbours and friends
and little children, enjoyed a

On Sunday, December 14,
despite the severe weather,
approtimately 60 guests
gathered at the MacKay
Centre to honor Charlie and
Clara Brindley on the oc.
casion of their 40th wedding
anniversary.
Before dinner, friends and
relatives were greeted by
Charlie and Clara during a
social • hour. Dinner was
served from a buffet table
adorned by a Christmas
arrangement and glowing
candles.
The family held Open
House at their parents' home
on Sunday, December 28.
During the afternoon and
evening, many friends and
former neighbours called at
193 Keays Street to extend
congratulations and best
wishes.
Mr. and Mrs. Brindley
were married at Bouniller
United Church on December
26, 1940. They were attended
by Don Lamont and the
groom's sister, Margaret
Kelly.
Mrs. Brindley was the
former Clara Pitblado,
daughter of the late Dan and
Melissa Pitblado of Colborne
Township. Mr. Brindley is
the son of -the late David and
•Margaret Brindley also of
CAllhorne,Townsha.'".
Charlie and Clara fanned
wail they retired to their
present home in Goderich in
May of 1978. Before a move
to Goderich Township in
1:15, they resided on the
home farm in Colborne
Township.
The Brindleys have four
daughters: Barbara (Mrs.
Paul Moss), Ruth (Mts. Jim
Pfrimmer) and Linda(Mrs.
Paul Suplat), all of Goderich
and Betty (Mrs. Dan
MacDonald) of Ashfield
Township. They also have
four grandsons and seven
granddaughters.

Goderich Rebekah Lodge
held a card party on January
23 at McKay Centre. There
were 21 tables playing 500
and euchre.
Prizes for 500 went to: high
man, Mel Snell; low man,
Amos Osbaldeston; high
lady Phyllis McTaggart; low
lady, Dorothy McKenzie.
