Energy study
Ontario Energy Minister
Robert Welch recently
released results of an •_
Ontario -wide survey Which
shows that, while the_
majorityof residents are
. conserving . some energy,
they , are continuing to
concentrate on activities
requiring little personal
effort. Example are timing
up me car, turning down the
thermostat or checking the
Weather-stripping on doors
and windows.
The survey is the latest in
an on -gong research study
initiated last March by the
Ministry . of Energy to gauge
consumer attitudes towards
energy conservation The
March benchmark survey
was .followed up with a
survey in September.
The survey was.conducted
by telephone in September
with residents of Ontario, 18
years of age and older. A
total of 88k persons, were
interviewed.
Those who tend to con-
serve the most continue to be
married, female, 18-24 years
of age, those with post-
secondary education, and
owneis'of one car. Those who
are least sensitive to con-
servation continue to be
owners of more than two
cars, 'males and these with
public school education.
