Until I reached the age of
25, I believed the Bible was a
myth. The many miracles of
which the Bible speaks must
be unrealistic and im-
possible, and the sinners in
the Bible must be only
'murderers- and thieteg;
certainly not people like me.
Since I discarded the Bible
• as a guide to life, I invented
my own guide, in search of
happiness, glory and
satisfaction. I found this
search to be more of a chore
than anticipated. Even as a
musical entertainer, per-
forming in banquet halls,
hotels and nightclubs, with
all its pleasures and glory, I
was unable . to, find the
"complete satisfaction" I
expected.
Once ,I married, my
search became even more of
a challenge. I had to face
real responsibility for the
first time in my life. Before
my marriage was one year
old, marital difficulties had
begun. My wife was a devout
Catholic, but J had no,desire
to join her in worship. This
eventually led to a search for
new religion.
During this time we
received an invitation from a
friend to attend a Bible -
teaching church, and a&
terward, to join our friend's
family for Sunday dinner. I
agreed to go along.
The Sermon given that
morning was directly from
the Bible • and all I could
remember was that it dealt
with God's love for us and
His hatred for sin. • I was
somewhat bewildered with.
this "New ,Approack." but
didn't give it much thought
• until at the dinner table. Our
friend's father said grace
with complete sincerity and
it wasn't just the standard
rhyme I had heard in the
past
We began talking about the
morning service and he
pointed out that the Bible
said he was a sinner, and I
was one also. But further,
the death of the Lord Jesus
Christ on the cross allows ilk
mot heaven with our sins
forgiven, if we accept His
death as payment for our sin.
This led to a discussion
that lasted all afternoon. I
attempted to show that the
Bible was unreliable. To my

stu-
&uprise I could find no
contradictions in the Bible,
but learned that the events in
the New Testament fulfilled
predictions - of the Old
Testament, The. Bi ble-
validated itself. I was ex-
tremely impressed that he
didn't answer my qeustions
with7"I ,think," but r'eferred

am the way, the truth, and
the life: no man cometh unto
the Father,but by Me." This'
verse began to have an
• impact upon my thinking
during our conversation.
As my wife was listening to
this discussion, she realized
she was a sinner, and would
Jiave to spend eternity in
-hell, if she didn't have her
. sips forgiven by accepting
the Lord Jesus Christ as

Inunediately, before any
doubts arose, she prayed, to

which more messages from
the Bible were presented.
After listening to the
speakers, I finally believed
that the Bible must be the
inspired Word of God (2 Tim.
3:16 ) but did not yet decide to
trust,Christ.
Later, as I lay in bed
considering the day's events,
I realized that sin came into;
the world through the very
first humans God created
(Rom. 5:12)p that all were
sinners, including me Rom.
3:23); that the penalty for sin
is eternal separation from
God in hell (Rom. 6:23), but
that Jesus died on the cross
to pay the penalty of my sin
and I could be set free from
this penalty by trusting in
Him (John 3:16). I further
realized that there was no
time to waste for. none of us
sltnow how sob!) our Life on
this earth may end.
It *as then thati trusted in
the Lord Jesus Christ as my
personal Saviour and,
became a born again
Christian. What a blessing it
was that my wife and I both
were born again on the same
day.
Life began to take on a new
meaning. The gap that I had
been trying So long' to fill was
filled with the peace of God, I
found my desires were
changing • and the social
activities and pleasures that
meant so much to me before,
had no fulfillment in my life.
. I began to seek new en-
joyments in the Lord, which
included meeting new
acquaintances, with whom
we, formed deep and sincere
friendships:
° As our marriage- grew,
God blessed us with -children
and our priorities' were
directed to family life. I
found • it a real en-
couragement to know that
oti: provides instructions
through His Holy Word for
marriage, for raising a
family, and for living each
day for .Him: The problems
and trials which arise are no
longer insurmountable but
can be accepted as God's
will. We are assured. that He
loves us and knows what is
best forus.
• To all ' who Jead this •
testimony, I hope you will
eonsider the consequences
as I did and. trust the Lord
Jesus Christ as your per-
sonal Saviour. You will enjoy
the peace that comes with
knowing your •sins are
forgiven, and be assured of a
place in Heaven when this
life is over.
