It seems that everywhere you go, people

shuul(1 be no great surprise, since so many
people ;ire playing it. it's what they're
talking about, that isthe key issue.
The quality of playing the GMSC, has
been slowly improving for several years
now This \ ear it seems' to have taken a
huge leap! Sift() Local 16 and Shafters are
a prui,u' exarrlple• At one point'in time they
tr:t• n hurl' two points in•five and you'd be
h(I('k before the beer got warm. No such
luck this •year. A few weeks ago, a very
wise Writer predicted Sifto would make a
move " and•that they have,! Play 500 ball
with a 1-4-1.recirrd,. they moved from 17th
to 14th .place this week. Allowing just 56
runs in 9 games tells you that you won't get
cheap hits when you play them. You have
to earn Your win: 'That fact alone promises
thew at least. a 13 level finish. Once •their
bats get roto gear•,•you had betterlook out!
This is one very fine up and coming -team.
\Vhat all the talk is about.,.. is that Sifto is
not the uni\ team to look out for. This is
getting to be a very Cough league t and for
\ uu non -believers, it is the round robin for-
mat that Inas clone this!

Thruway Muffler were hosed 13-8 by
Dearborn and lost in the seventh by a 20-17
margin to Canadian Tire. In a game that
featured 17 home runs, Goderich Chrysler
outlasted the Coyotes 25-21. Earlier, they
blasted the Gators 35,4 In a three inning
time limit call but lost a close' one to Ideal
Supply 8-3.
Sifto Local 16 Shafters nailed Home
Hardware 15-11 and blanked Shanahans
15-0. Canadian Tire scored 14 in the last
two innings to seal a 23-4 win over the
Cosmos but later lost it in the seventh to
Lakeview Ranchers by an 11-10 margin.
Murphys Law outlived their B division
status with a 17-2 loss to Suncoast and a
23-6 loss to Lakeland.
Chisholm TV edged Little Bowl 18-16 but
lost to Boyes 15-7. Gators, playing strong
defence of late, lost to Lakeview 11-2 and to
Parkhouse 28-6 in five. Home Hardware
blanked Dear"born. 10-0, Coyotes beat the
Raiders 15-9 and the Bulldogs mauled the
BBs 22-1 to round out the scoreboard.
Twenty six more games are scheduled.

things are running smoothly at the present
( though not perfect). Team reps are to be
congratulated for a fine job in their role as
liason between executive and league.

Goderich Peewees opened their season
last Monday at Grand Bend with'a 4-3 vic-
tory This was a spirited performance by
the Goderich team, which staged a
lighting eumeback after being down 2-0 at
half-time. m,
Coaches Murray Hunter and Clarence
Knight were pleased with their team's
work -rate and hustle in the second half.
Strikers Shane Davenport and Brian Cor-
riyea n tallier/ two goals each to spearhead
the Gurierich offense.
Other offensive standouts were wingers
Chris Ilerlufsen and .Stuart Knight, and
inside -forward Matt Brown. Defensively,
full-backs Mike Hunter. and Mike
Sttgt'nstad tackled strongly and made
',um'. fine clearances under pressure.

Goderich Mosquitos visited St. Colurnban
last 'Tuesday, They lost a close, hard-
fought cnr,est by a 2-1 tally, striker Jason
Merlanl scoring the goal. Coach Mike Cic-
(•hint was satisfied with his team's effort
;loll felt that, wth a few breaks, they could
ha\ e won. individually, he thought that
goal -keeper Brian Fisher and centre -half
Mark Ho, merited special mention for
their standout defensive performances.
Bridge contest
worldwide
The second Epson Worldwide Bridge
Contest was played on Saturday, May 16
and the C' derich pairs of Dawna Sproule
and Marg Hall, Rev. John Wood and
Aelian Weerasooryea, and Mary Donnelly
and Eleanor Erskine travelled to Sarnia
and Owen Sound and scored well in their
divisions
()n ,lune 9th Eleanor Erskine was the
director for a seven table game and the
winners were:
North/South: first - Tom Eadie and he
Martin, 84 points; second - Eveline
McDonagh and Frank Donnelly, 78.5
points, third - Eleanor Erskine and Ralph
Kingswell, 77.5 points.
East/West: tied for first - Bev and Henry
Perala and Aelian Weerasooryia and P.K.
Venkiteswaran, 79 points, third - Jean
Papernick and .John Donatis, 71.5 points.
