Gearco foreman Ron Brown, 34 ,
RONALD ALLAN BROWN
Ronald Allan Brown of Goderich, died
suddenly in Goderich on Wednesday, June
10 at the age of 34.
Born to Brussels Ontario on September 30,
1952, he was the son of the late Clifford
William Brown and the former Rita Beadle.
He was a foreman at Champion Road
Machinery's Gearco plant in the town's in-
dustrial park, a member of St. George's'
Anglican Church and a member of Goderich
Oldtimers Soccer Association.
Surviving are his wife the former Sharon
Wagner and children Jason•and Joshua both
at home. Also surviving are brother William
(Bill) and his wife Nadine of Goderich;
sister Shirley (Mrs. John Hazlitt) of Ben -
miller; sister Carol (Mrs. Robin Lawrie) of
Blyth; sister Nancy Brown of Kitchener;
and brother Phillip and his wife Margot of
Toronto. Also surviving are several aunts,
uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins"
The funeral service was held at McCallum
and Palla Funeral Home with Douglas Pitts
from St. George's Anglican Church
officiating. •
Pallbearers were Rick Fisher, Mike Sully,
Erwin Marchl, Dave Graf, Brian Allen and
Mark Ryan.
Interment at Ball's Cemetery, Auburn.
SARAH AMELIA CR'AWFORD
Sarah Amelia Crawford of Maitland
Manor in Goderich died at Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital on Friday,
June 12 at the age of 79.
Born in Alameda, Saskatchewan on
February 23, 1908, she was the daughter of
the late William Jeremiah Lapp and the
former Magdaline Maria Schmidt (Smith).
She was a member of Victoria Street
United Church.
., She was predeceased by husband Stanley
Crawford whom she married on April 9, 1927
in Oxbow, Saskatchewan. She was also
predeceased by two brothers and two
sisters.
Surviving are children Gordon and his
wife Joan of Goderich; Audrey (Mrs.. Lloyd
Mayer); Gerald and his wife Norma of
Goderich; William -and his wife Donna of
Auburn; Margaret (Mrs. Delmer Schloen-
dorf) of Vanastra; Robert and his wife Jean
of Exeter and Kenneth and his wife Judy of •
Goderich. Also surviving are 20 grand- ..
children, 19 great-grandchildren, , three
brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service was held on Monday,
June 15 at McCallum and Pella Funeral
Home with Rev. John D.M. Wood, from Vic-
toria Street United Church officiating.
Flower bearers were grandsons Bruce,
Mike and Mark Crawford. Pallbearers were
grandsons. Don Crawford, Bruce Crawford,
Wayne Crawford, Larry Crawford, Robert
Mayer apd Scott Crawford. .
Interment followed at Maitland
Cemetery.

Peter Steegstrp 'of Goderich died at Vic-
toria Hospital Sunday, June 7 at the age of
66.
Born in Blija, Netherlands on November
14, 1921, he was the son of the late Fetze„
Steegstra and the former Johanna Drost...
He was a farmer in Clinton and a member
of Trinity Christian Reformed Church.
Surviving are his wife the former Sadie
Leystra whom he married on September 14,
1944 in the Netherlands; children Gertie and
Jake Buruma of Petrolia; Joanne Verhoef
of Clinton, Alita Postma of Goderich; Eda
and Harry Greydanus of Goderich; Ed
Steegstra of Goderich; Jerry and Verlaine
Steegstra „of Kitchener; Teresa and Brad
Hargreaves' of Kitchener; and Janet
Steegstra of Kitchener. Also surviving are
four sisters and one brother in Holland.
Also surviving are grandchildren Kris,
Karen, and Kevin Buruma; Michael,
Kathleen and Danny Verhoef; Angela, Bart,
Joseph, Alesha and Peter Postma; Sarah,
James and Jennifer Greydanus; Sarena and
.Alaina Hargreaves and Jade Steegstra.
A funeral service was held at Trinity
Christian Reformed Church, Goderich, on
Wednesday, June 10 with Reverend Harry
Vriend officiating.
Pallbearers were Jerry Steegstra, Ed
Steegstra, Michael Verhoef, Martin Van
Luit, Jake Buruma and Harry Greydanus.

MARY ANN GLENN
Mary Ann Glenn, of Ross Street in
Lucknow, died at Wingham and District
Hospital on June 7 at the age of 85.
Born in West Wawanosh, on December
10, 1901, she was the daughter of the late
Samuel Cooke and Mary Ann Raynard.
She married Frank Glenn in Lucknow on
June 24, 1925. She was a member of
Dungannon United Church.
Surviving besides her husband are her
children: Oliver Glenn of Lucknow,
Harold Glenn of Lucknow, Joyce Pocock of
Dawson Creek, B.C., Donnie Glenn of
Toronto, Vernon Glenn of Auburn, and
Gerrie Glenn of Dungannon. .
Also surviving are two sister, Dolly
( Mrs. Hugh Menary) and Mrytle ( Mrs.
Herb McQuillin) of Lucknow and one
brother Chris Cooke of RR 7 Lucknow.
She was predeceased by one son, Jack in
1942, a daughter in June of 1952 and two
brothers, Sam and Bill.
The funeral service was held at the
MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home
in Lucknow with Rev. R. Roberts of
Dungannon officiating:
Flower bearers were Janine Hamilton,
Julie Glenn, Amy -Jo Glenn, Angela Glenn,
Arletta Glenn and Linda Oesch, all
granddaughters.
' Pallbearers were six grandsons, John
Glenn, Brian -'Glenn, Robert Glenn, An-
' drew Glenn, Greg Hamilton and David•
Oesch.
Interment in Dungannon Cemetery.
MARY I.AVERTY
Mary Laverty of Goderich, died at Alex-
andra Marine and General Hospital Sunday,
June 7 at the age..of 86.
Born in Uddingston, Scotland on.. March
10, 1901, she was the daughter of the late
Alexander Greer "and the former Agnes
,Laverty. She was, a member .of Victoria
Street United Church. -
She was predeceased by her husband Ar-
thur Laverty; son Samuel Laverty; grand-
son James Gauley; -great granddaughter
Jessica McLellan and four brothers and one
sister.
Surviving are sisters Agnes Buchannan of
Scotland and Martha Thompson of British
Columbia. Also surviving are grandchildren
Brian and Denise Laverty; Patricia ,and
Mike Scott and Michael Laverty all pf Mon-
treal; Lori Currie of Saskatchewan; Diane
and Gord McLellan, Kathie and Jim
Denomy, Bill :and Valerie Gauley, alI of
Goderich; Sandra and Mark Law of British
. Columbia. '
Also surviving are great-grandchildren
Dawn, Daenna and Jacki Currie of Saskat-
chewan; Benjamin and Abigail McLellan of ,
Goderich; Joel and Mark Denomy of
Goderich and Brittany Law of British
Columbia. '
The funeral service was held on Tuesday,
June 9 at Victoria Street United Church with
Rev. John. D.M. Wood officiating.
Pallbearers were ' Bill Gauley, , Gord
McLellan, Jim Denomy and Fred Rigby.
Interment followed at Maitland
Cemetery.
GRACE PEACHEY
Grace Peachey of Goderich died at Alex-
andra Marine and General Hospital on Mon-
day, June 15 at the age of 74.
Born 'on October 19, 1912 in Toronto, she
was the daughter of the late Joseph Fritzley
and the former Ida Lepard.
She was predeceased by her brothers Mac
and Eugene Fritzley.
Surviving are her husband Ernest R.
Peachey;. daughters Ruth I Mrs. George
McLean) of North Bay: Sylvia (Mrs. Ken
McGee) of Goderich; and son Wayne
Peachey and his wife Anne Marie of
Goderich.
Also surviving are sister'Florence (Mrs.
Ab Leonard) of Goderich; Pearl ( Mrs.
William Harmer) of Toronto; Richard,
Harry and Jack Fritzley all of Goderich.
Also surviving are grandchildren Bonnie L.
McLean of Dunnville and Darcy and Kristin

CHARLOTTE ELIZABETH COOKE
Charlotte Elizabeth Cooke of West
Wawanosh died at University Hospital on
Wednesday, June 10 at the age of 80.
Born in Kinloss Township on May 12,
1907, she was the daughter of the late John
James Smith and the former Gertrude
Borton. She married Christopher Cooke
who survives. She was a member of Trini-
ty United Church.
Surviving besides her husband are one
son, Harold Cooke of West Wawanosh; dne
borhter Alexander Smith of Owen Sound,
and two grandchildren.
' She was predeceased by one son James
Christopher Cooke in 1984.
The funeral service was held Friday,
June 12 at the Mackenzie and McCreath
Funeral Horne in Lucknow with Rev. R.
Roberts of Trinity United Church
officiating..
Pallbearers were Bob Johnston, Ronnie
Menary, Sam Cooke, Bill Cooke, Russel
Phillips and Cliff Kilpatrick. Interment in.

LAURA JANE SHIELDS
Laura Jane Shields of RR5, Goderich died
at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital
Tllursday, June 11 at the 'age of 81.
Born in Ashfield Township on September
4, 1905, she was the daughter 'of the late
Nelson Graham and the former Alice
Pollock.
She was a housewife and a member of Vic-
toria Street United Church.
She was predeceased by brother Elmer
Graham and sister Ethel ( Mrs. Andrew
Bogie 1.
Surviving are her husband 'Frank Case
Shields and daughter Olive Shields of Col=
borne Township. Also surviving is her sister
Irene I Mrs. William Stoddart) of London.
The funeral service was held at McCallum
and Palla Funeral Home on Saturday, June
13, with Rev. John D.M. Wood officiating.
'Pallbearers were ken Stoddart, Graham
Bogie, Ron McDonald, Horace Crawford,
Hugh Mac Crostie and Arnold Young.
Interment was at Maitland Cemetery.
Voice for Life

Fourteen members attended . the June
meeting of Voice for Life, with president
Jim Bakelaar in charge. Rev. John Vaudry
read from Scripture.

Church. The 41 km.. ride will go through
Walton, Brussels and back to Blyth.

The new TV messages featuring three
women who have had abortions are well
underway on CKNX Channel 8. These ads
will run for one year-.
A number pf local people attended the 24
hour prayer vigil and silent walk at the
Morgentaler abortuary on June 10.
The group will purchase the film Eclipse
of Reason, the sequel to The Silent Scream,
both created by Dr. Bernard Nathanson, ex -
abortionist. The film depicts a late abortion
with new technology: cameras both inside
and outside the uterus. In addition, there are
interviews with the other victims of abor-
tion: women who have been irreparably in-
jured by abortion, physically and
psychologically. The film will be used in the
group's education program.
