EAL .ESTATE I fC :WI les e' imp tiff', 4 REVEREND ARTHUR SCOTT FREE METHODIST CHURCH You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trt'ists in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal." Isaiah 26: 3-4 N.I.V. The technology which produces the graphics and visual displays as seen on Sesame Street stimulates the mind and im- agination. We can imagine and visualize many wonderful things. Seasame Street's --- Bert sings about "the land of imagination" and this "land of imagination" is in our, dreams according to his song. In our dreams or visualization 'process we have the potential for a "land of im- agination" or for C.S. Lewis' "land of Nar- nia". Isaiah is talking about this type of imagining or visualizing when he says, "whose mind is steadfast". When we are confident the land of God's love exists; and when we have the assurance God loves us; then our imagination enables us to ex- perience "peace that passes understan- ding" or what Isaiah identifies as "perfect peace'. • This type of imagining is most vividly il- lustrated by the negative aspect of fear. At times, we experience fear dominating our imagination. When.we are aware of a lov- ed one driving through a severe winter's storm we ponder the potential dangers and imagine the tragic results. This is a negative aspect of the `,'land of imagination". Isaiah speaks of a simitar imagination experience, but from the positive side with faith dominating our imagination. When our imagination focuses on God in an at- titude of trust, then we actualize God's love through visualization. God actualizes it demonstrates His love for us in Christ. When trust and confidence in God saturate our imagination and visualization, then the retainer '.gates open and the reality of God's love pours into our lives bringing the "peace that passes understanding" and God's "perfect peace".. Even though our world is infested by sin and its symptoms such as: turmoil, strife, heartache and fear; I believe we can ex- - perience God's "perfect peace" when our ."land of Imagination" finds its source in God and when our "land of imagination" demonstrates .confidence in the reality of Jesus. Christ and expresses obedience in his discipline.
