Soybean growers
object to fee
The Ontario Soya -Bean Growers'
Marketing Board strongly objects to a $5
per truckload grading fee which the soy-
bean crushers have announced they will
impose, effective Sept. 1, 1987. Such a fee
was not discussed as part of .negotiations
for the upcoming crop year and therefore
is not part of the 1987 Marketing Agree-
ment. The Soya -Bean Board stresses that
under the 1987 agreement a producer ship-
ping soybeans to either a crusher or a
dealer is in no way obligated to pay such a
charge.
Under provincial marketing legislation
the Negotiating Committee for soybeans,
comprised of representatives from the
crushers, dealers and growers, has the
power to adopt a marketing agreement
which sets the terms and conditions of sale
as well as any charges relating to the
marketing of soybeans. The committee sat
down nn April 1, 1987 and hammered out a
marketing agreement. A fee for grading
was not discussed or included in theagree-
ment. All parties - crushers, dealers and .
growers are signatories of this agreement
as it stands. '
The marketing agreement does state
that any receiver of a shipment of soy-
beans, be it either an elevator or crusher,
must supply a record of grade and
moisture as a part of a normal business
service. To'date there has been no fee for
such a service nor is there provision in the
1987 Agreernent for such a fee.

If you're looking for something unique
and different on Father's Day this Sunday,
why not treat dad to breakfast 'at the
Goderich Municipal Airport.
The airport will be the scene of a com-
bination fly -in breakfast and open house
this Sunday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon with the
Goderich Rotary Club preparing a healthy
breakfast for sale on the grounds.
Organizer Dave Bodner of Business Air
. Services says that four' P-51 Mustangs,
which will be participating in Hamilton's
Air Show on .the weekend, will be on
display. Two of the warbirds were re-'
painted at Goderich.
The display will also include Terry
Stuart's Cessna 150, Business Air Service's
414 Cessna and a host of home -built air-
craft. Besides the static displays, all
facilities at the airport•will be open for
public inspection and there will be
demonstrations by the model aircraft club
under the direction of Bill Fry.
Bodner said the fly -in breakfast and
open house will give people outside the fly-
ing fraternity an opportunity to view the
facilities.
"The open house will give people a
chance to see what we have out here and
they will be able to take a close look ,at
facilities and various airplanes they
wouldn't normally see," he said.
The airport will be a centre of activity
this weekend as the Goderich Rotary Club
is holding its special anniversary 'lame in
the Business Air Services hangar Saturday
evening. The dance will feature entertain-
ment by the famed Spitfire Band.
