This is a habit with ninety pecent of Goderich folk and a good one. It talo u out of the ho'lse. That great lake makes e feel good just to look at it and the s t are unbelievable... A "one of a kind"! Naturally! I have had the 'habit' since 1946 - a good habit acquired as soon as you move into Goderich. It has been fascinating to see, over these many years, how the harbour has changed, and how it has been changed. With all the 'great im- provements I wouldn't want to be the one to check back in the books to see how much it has cost over the last 40 years. Don't think about it - just be glad we have had people who really cared enough to become unpopular by trying to open the eyes and ears of councils. It had taken many years before there was any action and now that. we have it we just take it for granted. St. Christopher Beach has created many more changes with, hopefully, more to come. One Sunday, recently, I drove into the new beach. It was unbelievable. Cars were packed in, bumper to bumper on each side of the road. I soon saw the reason for the crowds, a most spectacular display of wind surfing. Traffic heavy, I did not'see much of the colorful sails, but ahead 1 could see an empty parking lot, at the other beach. The people with their equipment who planned to stay all day could have parked their cars there, don't you think? There was no way .anyone wishing to watch for a short while, could nave stopped. If there had been.a sign at the entrance it would have helped since there is a nice walk from one beach to the other. Wooden, that is! One could have wat- ched from the old beach if the notion had been shown. People could watch - and did - from the hill but part of the action was local happening ROUND ABOUT With Martha, Pathburn covered by the trees. No, now, don't get the idea of cutting•any trees - there are tpo few now to hold that hill, Later, I went over to the "Salty" side of the harbour and it was good to see all the walks, to the boats tied up there, were above water. I think the man upstairs held back the rain and snow. last;wiriter, to change that water level. There was one thing I hated to see change was the stones on the old beach. I understand taking out that old pier, which few people knew about, allowed the rocks to pour in. So, we need something to correct that situation - or has it been done - I haven't noticed. There is so much to see in and around Goderich. The Square -1 see many changed - also changes in the big mall, that shook me. ()f course shopping areas are always chang- ing over the years. But Goderich has been hustin' its bt-itches with new housing. I've seen very little of it, so far --but in- tend to get around to it soon. I've only been "out in the country" a couple of times so'far - but i intend to remedy that also. I'm thrill- ed with the changes - even the new building going towards Bayfield. Now that, Bayfield I hear, is one place we need to watch as it is growing like crazy. Anyway, they will still come to Goderich - especially for "Little Theatre". it has been wonderful seeing old friends again.
