The GIFL continued last week with six
.games.•On Monday, June 1, Brian Rumig
hit a sacrifice fly to bring in John Warr in
the bottom of the ninth to give the Orioles a
5-4 win over the Juniors. The Juniors
scored first in the first inning as Paul
Nivins and Mark Ducharme scored runs.
They opened their lead to 3-0 w.hery Byron
Bownem doubled to score Paul Nivins. The
Orioles got two runs back in the second
when Darryl Beattie singled to score two
runs. Leroy Dougherty gave the Juniors a
4-2 lead when he homered to lead off the
fourth inning. But the Orioles came back
when Steve Haggit scored Kevin Adams
and in the bottom of the seventh Adanis
came through with RBI , double to score
'Paul Jewell to send the game to extra
innings.

In the second game Denornrne's mercied r
Lauries•11-0, Denomme pitcher Gary Mux-
lous allowed five hits in five innings but it
was the Denommee offence that carne to
life. They scored four times in the third
and seven times in the fourth. Brian
Moody took the league home run league
with a three run horsier.
On Wednesday, the Juniors won their se-
cond game of the year, defeating Merner-
Haugh 4-1. In the second, Jim Beattie and
Bob Barwick scored Lonny Douherty and
Pete Nivens to take a 2-0 lead. Barwick's
hit would eventually' be the game winning
RBI: The Juniors pushed it to 3-0 when
Beattie singled in Bownem. Darryl Black
scored on a Jav Williamson single to make
it 4-0. Junior pitcher Black gave up four
hits and the only run he allowed was a
home run bV Ken Daer in the sixth.
On Sunday, the Orioles defeated
ellayter's 8-0. The Orioles scored twice in
each of the third, fourth, sixth and seventh
innings. Rob Plunkett pitched for the first
time this year and gave up five hits and
:truck out eight through seven innings. He

also helped his own cause with a two run
homer. Steve Frayne went 4-4 and had two
RBI's.
The second game featured outstanding
pitching performances from Jim Bissett of
the Juniors, and Don Bogie of French.
They allowed two hits and one hit respec-
tively. Bogie struck out seven. French won
1-0 and the only run came in the first' inn-
ing. Ed Johnston singled and went to se-
cond on a passed ball. Jim Martin doubled
to score Johnston. Pete Nivens got the only
Junior hit, the first batter of the game.
In the third game Sunday, Kirkey's
defeated Denomme's 5-1. Dean Finelly
tripled to, score two and later scored on a
Bob Orr single to put Kirkey's ahead 3-0.
They scored twice morein the sixth to
go up to 5-0. Denomme's got one run in the
seventh when Jack MacKinnon singled in
Will Denomme. Kirkey pitcher . Terry
Johnston held Denomme's to five hits.
Oldtimers hammer Meneset
In Goderich Ladies Slow Pitch action
last week, Oldtimers won against Meneset
12-4, Night Owls hammered Hot Shots 17-8,
Samuelson's beat Double Blue 11-3, Sifto
squeaked by Go-4-Ettes 4-3, and Bruno's
mercied Double Blue 22-0.

Meneset got their three runs early as
Sandy Mabon, Elaine Fielder and Joy Orr
crossed home plate in the first inning, but
couldn't hold the lead as Oldtimers proved
to be a strong hitting team.
Sandy Fielder scored three times during
the game while Patti Petrie, Libby,
Schultz, Donna Murray and Wendy Good
• doubled to help, Oldtimers take 'the win

Faye • Waller, Cheryl Smith No. 1,

scored in the..fir,st inning, giving Hot Shots
the lead 4-0: •
Dori Kolkinan and' Marilyn Manderson
managed to get home for Night Owls in the
second, to bring the score to 4-2 and
Marilyn MacC'uspey and Ruth Oke brought
in another two runs tying up the game.
The fourth and fifth innings saw Hot
Shots bring in four more runs, but Night
Owls got the bats going in the bottom of the
fifth as they over powered Hot Shots and
scored 13 runs to take the game 17-8.
Samuelson's vs Double Blue '
Cathy McMillan, Steph Mzk. Kelly ,and
Penny Crawford each scored one run to
help Double Blue take the lead early 3-0. '
Samuelson's managed to hold Double
' Blue scoreless throughout the rest of the
game and got the bats going to see Allison
Graham homer twice while Brenda
Parker brought in another two runs to help
Samuelson's 'take the game 11-3.
, Sifto vs Go-4-Ettest
On June 4, Sifto and Go-4-Ettes battled it
our at the St. Mary's diamond as
Go-4=Ettes took an early 2-0 lead with Barb
O -Brien and Debbie Clarence scoring.
Go-4-Ettes managed to hold Sifto
scoreless until the fourth inning when
Kathleen Carter scored the first run. Lois
Chapman brought in the third run for
Go-4-Ettes in the sixth inning.
By the bottom of the sixth, with Kathleen
Carter and Darlene Ellison on base, Gayle
Jones tripled to tie the game 3-3. On a
sacrafice fly, Gayle Jones tagged up to br-
ing in the winning run for Sifto.
Bruno's vs Double Blue
A second game on June 4 saw Bruno's
mercy Double Blue 22-0.
Donna Caldwell, Bonita Pollock, Patty
Mclsaac and Joanne Turner scored three
times each. while Shelli Berlet -Barlow,
Jannette Middel, Val Willis and Barb
Fisher each crossed the plate twice to help
Bruno's take the game.
70 atten
successful ladies campetitin

Sunset hosted a very successful Ladies' ,
Interclub on Thursday with over 70 in at-
tendance. Seaforth, Bayfield and Maitland
joined the Sunset ladies in an evening of'
golf, dinner and prizes. •
The Mixed Two -Ball on Friday was well
attended and first low grog's honours went
to Al MacDonald and Mary Lynn Telford.
Tied for second position were Bruce Tan-
ner. and Laurie Snow with Hary Livingston
and Shirley Baechler. The next mixed two -
ball will be held on Friday, June 19, and
will feature a barbecue. Participants
should bring their owls meat and all other
trimmings will be supplied.
Men's night on Tuesday watched as
Tony Bedard captured low gross of the day
and Steve Graham following with 'low net
of the day. Ticker Mero took first flight low
gross and Carl Degrandis won low net. Se •

cond flight low gross went to Dave Knox
and Ray Cook claimed low net. Gord Kemp
carded low gross in. third flight and Mike
1,ajeunesse.boasted low net.

Another busy week at the Maitland.
There were 51. men out on Monday night
and we lad real great golfing weather. The
low net winner was Don Mason, with Jeff
Harrison closest to the hole on No. 1. Other
Brite winners were , Jack hlinton, Don
Gard, Bob 'Shrier, Bill Kirig, Issy Bedard,
Dave Cornish, Dire Wolterbeek, Bill Dun-
can and George Zolob.
On Tue$day, 22 ladies played and the 1st
flight winners were Marie Huff and
Rosemarie Evan's. 2nd flight Joan
McDougall and Bess Smith - Mary Lapaine
' for putts; 3rd flight - Bertha McGee - Joyce
Garrick for putts;. 4th flight - Kay King,
Helen, McDaniel, and Pauline McKellar,
