Everyone loves a. party, and. the directors
of the Huron County Federation of
Agriculture are no exception. They are in-
viting everyone to their celebration of the
50th anniversary of the Ontario Federation
of Agriculture 1 OFA i.
When the Ontario Federation of
Agric.,iture was formed in 1936, it was call-
ed The Ontario Chamber of Agriculture. In
1940, the names was changed, but what, has
never changed is the mandate of the
organization itself.
Paul Klopp of Varna, President of Huron.
C'uunty Federation, .says that the organiza-
tion has made major improvements in far -
Ming conditions .in Ontario. Virtually every
farm program in the past 50 years, he adds,
has originated within the OFA. The
challenge for the future, he says, its to find a
method that will get farmers an adequate
. return for their produce.

WEDNESDAY SPECIAL
years of working to improve rural Ontario.
This year, county groups all across Ontario
are featuring special events to celebrate
their years of support for the farming
industry.
Gordon Hill of Varna, a former OFA presi-
dent who has researched the history of the
Huron County Federation of Agriculture,
reports that Huron County Council was in-
strumental in establishing the Huron group.
The first meeting was held on July 7, 1941.
Fred Watson of Bayfield was president that
year, J.W. Gamble of Gorrie was vice-
president, and Win, J. Dale from Clinton
was secretary -treasurer.
The birthday party, an "Old Tyme Jam-
boree" and barbecue, will be held at the
Seafor`t'h Community Centre on June 28. The
entertainment starts at 2 p.m. and the
barbeque is from 5 to 7. For further informa-
tion or tickets; call 482-9642, 482-9133 or
