Judging
There are two main categories for the
judges to mark the contestants on. The
first, worth 70 points in total, is the inter-
view with the judges. The second is the
public address and presentation.
Interview With Judges: Appearance - 20.
It is important to look your best at all
times during the competition Remeber
that you are being judged on posture, at-
tire and attractiveness during the inter-
view, and that means being neat, tidy and
alert.
Extra -curricular Activities - 10.
The judges will be interested in learning
about the contestant's participation in

Personality - 15.
During the interview. the contestant will
be judge on enthusiasm, interest in others.

Poise and attitudes are good indicators of
maturity. If the contestant has an opinion
concerning some questions or issue. don't
be afraid to voice it, even if it seems to be
controversial. Go into an interview think-
ing that you -will enjoy it, and you will.
Interview Response - 20.
An overall assessment of the way in which
contestants respond to questions will be

Remember, they are looking for ti.e
qualities of enthusiasm, maturity. in-
telligence and attractiveness in choosing a
Queen of the Fair. Relax.
Public Address And Presentation
Following the individual interview with
the judges, contestants will be asked to
take part in the public section of the com-
petition. This involves giving a public ad-
dress on the subject of their choice. The
length of this speech should be about three
minutes. Total points alloted are 30..
Personality - 15. -
The contestants enthusiasm, charm,
sincerity, poise, appearance and posture
will be evaluated during their public ad-
dress_ A pleasant attitude is always a big
plus for a speaker, so smile. An audience
will notice and appreciate a pleasant and
enthusiastic speaker. -
Presentation - 10.
The way in which a speech is delivered is
very important to the success of the -
message given. Impact. voice control,
enunciation and grammar are judged dur-
ing a public address. You have an impor-
tant message to give, so speak clearly and
precisely - the audience will listen. •
Material - 5`
What the contestant has to say is impor-
tant to the success -of the speech, and its
originality and organization will be
evaluated. When preparing an address,
make sure sources are reliable and work-
around a central theme or idea in order to
emphasize the message.
Duties
. Last year's Queen of the Fair, Kimberly
Cook, will be competing in the Miss
Sweetheart of- the Fairs Contest this -year
in Toronto while the 1987 queen will com-
pete next year.
The first official function of this year's
queen will be -representing' Clinton at the
Lucknow Miss Mid -western Ontario. con-
test in August. In February she will attend
the fair board convention in preparation
for the Toronto contest. -
Arena floor will
be loaded with great ideas

The floor of the Clinton Arena will be
packed with people willing to stop and take
the time to explain their products.
These exhibitors will also be donating
door prizes, so make sure you get your
ticket.
The exhibitors will be ready for your

questions starting at noon on June 5 and
closing at 12 a.m. The next morning they
will open again at 10 a.m. and run through
until 12 a.m. once again. -
Be sure to stop and ask the numerous
bexhibitors a question or two and take
them up on some of their specials.
