PAGE 18--GODERICH SIGNAI.2STAR, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3, 1987 WEDDINGS Glenda Elizabeth park, daughter of Marina and John Park of Dungannon, and Marco Pierre Panzavecchia, son of Anne and Joseph Panzavecchia of RR 2 Thorn - dale, were united in marriage at Dungan- non United Church May 2 by Rev. Roberts and Rev. Williams: The couple have taken up residence at 955 Wonderland Road South, Apt. 501, in London. eicKay Centre • May proved to be a busy month at MacKay Centre beginning with a card par- ty on May 13. Prizes for High Euchre went to Adelaide Feagan, Bill Gow, Alice Moss, Bill Naegle and Sill McTaggart. The door prize was won by Hazell Dougherty. Barbara McWhinnie arranged the Varie- ty Program on May 27. Barbara opened the program by reading a poem in celebra- tion of May and the, joy of living. Barbara went on to introduce The MacKay Choristers. Irla Stewart directed the choir and Joan Henwood accompanied them on the piano. The choir began by singing •'The Goderich Song" followed by a new song written by the choir entitled appropriately •'The MacKay (.'entre", Helen Baumbach and Sean Hanley. sang and Don McMillan played the trombone. The choir's presen- tation featured several songs they will be performing at the Choir Festival in Kit- -chener on June 3rd,,including a beautiful FAMILY NEWS Dana Lynn Elsom of Meneset Park, RR 5 Goderich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Sovie of 316 Mary St. in Goderich and Mr. and•Mrs. Adrian Elsom of Wheatley, and peter Roy Kohnert of Meneset Park, RR 5 Goderich, son of Mrs. Tina Kohnert and the late Mr. Horst Kohnert, were united in marriage at Knox Presbyterian Church, on April 24 by Rev. G.L. Royal. Matron of honor *as Mrs. Doric Kolkman, friend of the bride of Auburn. Best man was Mr. Leonard Kohnert, brother of the groom, of Ridgewood 'Park, RR 5 Goderich, with usher Mr: James Smits, uncle of the groom of Stratford. Aftera short intermission a slide presen- tation from Elderhostel' Canada was shown. Elderhostlel offers programs for anyone 60 years and over, at over 850 universities and colleges in the U.S., Canada and 30 countries overseas. The program is'open to everyone regardless of educational background. After the slide presentation Norman and Margaret M'cHolm spoke about the Elderhostel pro- grams they have enjoyed, including their recent trip to Berlin. They also answered questions from the audience. Elderhostel brochures are available from the Goderich Library and the MacKay Centre for anyone interested. Barbara then introduced Rita Hazell who had brought along slides of flowers and plants taken on trips to vario.'us gardens and exhibitions. On May 26, despite' the hot, humid weather, over 30 of our members took part in the "Elderobic Moonwalk". Many of out• members completed the walk over the weekend and phoned in their mileage and by Monday, June 1 MacKay Centre's total had reached 215 kilometres. One June -3 the total distance covered will be phoned in to the head office in Toronto and the total distance accumulated across the country will be announced on June 5. Center participants were also busy with the Gbderich Senior Games. The bridge tournament and the euchre tournament took place at MacKay Centre. Winners of all the events advance to the District Games in Seaforth on June 22 and 23. "TIGER" H..UNT �DERicH 160 th ANNIVERSAR � Y TIGER DUNLOP DAYS JULY 31st - AUG. 3rd The Goderich 160th Anniver- sary/Tiger Dunlop Days Committee is stalking the community in search of an outgoing individual to play>the role of Goderich's founder, Dr. William "Tiger" Dunlop during the special anniversary celebrations - July 31 - August 3/1987. SELECTION METHOD - A CONTEST The Commltte: has decided to run a contest to select the finest "Tiger" In the land. Judging will take ,place Sunday evening, June 28th at Harbour Park. Tiger would be required to,be in the Goderich Canada Day Parade July 1st and appear at a minimum of one event per day during the Goderich 160th Anniversary/Tiger Dunlop Days Celebrations, July 31 - August 3. PRIZES: Trophy & Provision of a Tiger Dunlop Costume for the Canada Day Parade and the 160th Anniversary/Tiger Dunlop Days Weekend. TO ENTER: 1. Contestants must be at least 19 years of age. 2. You can enter yourself in the contest. 3. Perhaps you know someone who would be lust perfect as "Tiger". Nominate this individual. She/he will be contacted to see if they are interested in running. 4.
