Trude get lost forever
Dear Editor:
The Conservative government has been.
responsible for resurrecting shrugging
and hands Pierre. Will he try to invoke the
War Measures Act against the Conser-
vatives for trying to lower the Nation
deficit that he and his party created, and
find a peaceful solution to be compatible
with the provinces?
Why didn't he continue his wanderings
over the globe, and get lost someplace?
He seems to have created a rift among
the Liberals, and they'don't know whether
to shrug or go blind. He claims to be wor-
ried about Canada and the Meech Lake ac-
cord.. Canada did very well before he arriv-
ed, and I believe it will get along famously
without him.
There seems to be a certain element of -
chaos in his personal life - is he trying to
transfer this to the public?
His actions this far are similar to those
of Charles de Gaulle, who in my opinion
was one of Canada's worst cesspool
distributers.
I believe shrugging Pierre's only con-
cern for Canada remains •in the longest
finger on his right hand which displayed
his overpowering arrogance for the
population of Canada.
Can a leopard change its spots? I don't,
think so.
Sincerely,
N:.I. Minaker

Agr ultural funding details
are released by Jack Riddell
Following requests from a- number of
readers, here are more details of the new
agricultural funding provided in the
budget brought down• by Treasurer Bob
Nixon recently.
The budget sets aside a record $563
million for the Ministry of Agriculture and
Food, a 72 per cent increase since the new
provincial government was formed 22
months ago. Treasurer Nixon said low
commodity prices, declining farm asset
values and high debt loads are still squeez-
ing Ontario's agricultural sector.
The five new initiatives announced in the
budget are- practical programs aimed at
putting money into the pockets of the
farmers that heed it and I feel that because
of that credit and commodity price crunch,
many farmers have been forced to let
parts of their operation go unattended.
Farm Management Safety
and Repairs Program
- will' provide $50 million to assist farmers
with farm analysis and planning, farm
safety, machinery' repairs and shop equip-
ment and on-farm and grain storage.
Farmers who gross at least .$12,000 per
year can receive up to $2,500 in the. next 12
months.
Land Stewardship Program
will provide $40 million aver three years
to encourage sound land • management
practices by assisting farmers to restore
soil productivity andeduce environmen-
tal damage on productive as well 'as
QUEEN'S
PARK
marginal farm land.
OFFIRR Program
- will continue • to provide. interest rate
rebates to farmers at the full 100 per cent
level, not 70 per cent as earlier announced.
It applies to both short and long-term debt.
Farm Tax Rebate Program
- will be strengthened to provide an extra
$18 million to inert use the level of
rnunicipal tax rebate on farmland and
agricultural buildings only from 60 per
cent to 100 per cent. To further help the
farmers, they will receive the rebates in
two installments during the year, and they
won't have to prepay their tax to qualify.
Assistance Program
- Will be continued for another five years to
encourage even 'more young people to
enter the field of food production. Original-
ly; it was scheduled to end this year.
Airport Grant
My colleague Ed Fulton, Minister of
Transportation and Communications, has
recently announced funding to the
Goderich Municipal Airport for their run-
way design project. Total -estimated cost of
the project is $40,000 of which the ministry
will provide up to 75 per cent funding, or
$30,000.
