Spring is here and all the residents are
enjoying the fine weather. The summer
furniture is out on the patio and on fine
days residents can sit outside incl watch
the activity on Victoria Street,
Faster was celebrated with an Easter
bonnet parade and there were same im-
aginative styles and some elegant hats.
Mrs. Helen Anderson won for the most
original bonnet and Mrs. Edna Mills son
fur having the largest hat..
:Movie night is held one Wednesday a
month. In April the residents viewed two
movies "The Story of Highway No. 1 from
Calgary to Vancouver" and "Fifty Years
of The Royal Winter Fair".

Renovations continue at the Lodge and
the residents have patiently put up with
the noise and dirt as three rooms have had
ensuite washrooms added, carpets have
been laird and the walls painted and

The. joint installation of the officers and
executive chairmen of the Goderich Legion
Branch 109 and the Ladies AuxilTary of
Branch 109 was held in the Jubilee room of
the Branch on the evening cf May 15.
The Legional installing teams were led by
Lime Commander Jack 'l'ufford and Aux-
iliary Zone Commander Mary Hahn. '1'o the
skirl of the pipes; each group of Legion of-
ficers' and executive 'chairman were con
ducted before the appropriate installing of=
ficer to be inducted into the.positlon oh the
•
Branch executive that. they will occupy for
the term of the -new Legion year i June 1,
1987 to May 31,1988.•
Comrade Alvin Blackwell was installed as
President of Branch 109 for a second -term as
was Comrade Margaret 13aker- who corn-
' mences her second term as President of The
Branch 109 Ladies Auxiliary. ,
The Past President of the Branch is ,John
A. "MacDonald.. Laura Mc'Larty will again
serve as the Past President of the Ladies
Auxiliary

stalled as First Vice President of the Ladies

Anne Doherty was installed as recording
secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary and Iris
Sampson as the correspor>,ding secretary of
the Auxiliary. The Branch secretary will be
appointed at the next meeting of the new
Branch executive, to be held, on May 26,
Wayne Doak was installed as the new
Branch treasurer and Marie Le Blanc com-
mences another term as th'e treasurer of the
Ladies Auxiliary.,

property chairman, Claire Bedard as com-
munity services chairman„ Harold Beadle

Spring flowers decorated the tables for 'a
Mother's Day theme. Vice president Pat
White opened with prayer and welcomed
everyone. President .Jean Murchison of the
WMS gave an opening address, followed
' by Reverend G.L. Royal who paid grace.

member using their mothers' first names.•
Winnie Walters gave a reading "mother
is a full time job" .and Hazel McCreath
read the scripture from Exodus 2:5-11.
Mrs. Ethel McAllister introduced Rev.
Royal, the speaker. He said this was his
last meeting to speak to the group and a
warns weleorne was extended to him. Mr:
Royal said that nearly 27 years; ago, he'
began his ministry' at Knox Church. Ile
urnderlirned the importance uf' a Church be-
ing a missionary enterprise and Was happy
to say his present ('hurch'had•ri missionary
outreach, He stressed that the WMS as a
,whole is in the field of making the gospel
known. He forwarns •ares the cungregration to
keep missions before there. Ile feels as

message and his challenge to the ladies.
Mrs. McAllister invited the ladies to a
Camp Kintail weekend June 5 to 7. The
next meeting will be held at Betty 'I lelesics
home on June 15.
MVCA. chairman steps down
At the May 13 Executive Committee
meetings of the Maitland Valley Conserva-
tion Authority, I MVCA 1 Chairman Vince
,Judge of Listowel asked the Executive to ap-
point vice-chairman Bruce McCall of
Brussels to the MVCA 'chairman's position
for the remainder of Mr. Judge's term.
Citing personal responsibilities and an in-
creased workload, Mr. Judge said he has
found it difficult to make the time committ-
plent. necessary for the chairman's positon.
"I have enjoyed the work of the Authority,
and really appreciate the support' that
Authroity members have given etie," said
Mr. Judge. :•However i will nut seek a reap-
pointment to the Authority".
The ;MVCA Executive accepted :qr.
,Judge's resignation with regret.
Mr. Judge served, on the Authority from
1972 to 1977 as a representative of the Town
of 1,istowel. He was 'reappointed a$ a provin-
cial representative in 1981 and elected
Chairman in 1985.
