A xercise planned
by radio club
Final preparations ha ,e been made for
an emergency readiness and capability ex-
ercise by the Bluewater Amateur Radio
Club.
•Amateur radio operators from all over
the continent set • up :stations in remote
locations and operate on emergency
power, during Field Day exercises. They
try to make contact with as many
operators from as far away as possible in a
24 hour period.
The exercise will be held, beginning at 2
p.rn., June 27-28 on the property of
William Dutton, north of Kingsbridge.
At a recent meeting of the club, held at
Sky Harbour May 12, elections were held
for new officers. Bruce McCreath is the
new president, replacing Ken Hughes and
Marie Hughes is secretary treasurer,
replacing Henry Hendricks.
Also at the meeting, the club made final
arrangements for a bus tour to the Ontario
Science Centre, May 30, and a tour of the
quarry and manufacturing facilities of the
Cement Company at St.Mary'.s.
Members were shown a design for'a'club
logo at the meeting which could be used on
T-shirts, crests and windshield stickers.
The next meeting will be held at Sky
Harbour airport on June 9 and members
friends and anyone interested in radio will
be welcome.

A by-law to regulate the use of water far gardening and other purposes in the Town of
Goderich, passed on October 9, 1980.
WHEREAS by virtue of The provisions contained in The Public Utilities Act, R.S.A. 1970,
Chapter 390, Section,12, a municipal corporation may pass by-laws for regulating, among,
other things. the time, manner, extent and nature of the supply by the works, the building
or person to.which and to whom water shall be furnished and every other matter or thing
related to or connected therewith in order to secure to the inhabitants of the municipality
a continued and abundant supply of pure and wholesome water;
AND WHEREAS pursuant to Section 41, Sub -section. 1 of the said Act, where a commis-
sion has been established, all the powers, rights,• authorities and privileges that are by
the Act conferred on a municipal corporation shall be exercised by the commission;

AND WHEREAS it is deemed desirable to regulate the hours and conditions under which
water shall be supplied for the purpose of watering (awns and other areas within the Town
of Golarich and to provide for offences for contravention of such regulations;
NQ'(N EREFORE The Public Utilities Commission of the Town of Goderich enacts as
folio s: 1
1 (a) No person being the owner or tenant of occupant of property shall permit water from
the municipal water system to be used for the purposes of washing, watering or irrigating
any lawn. garden, landscaped area. asphalt area, concrete area, or any other area of such
property;
(b) No person having the apparent care and control of property. shall permit water from
the municipal water system to•be used for the purposes of washing, watering or irrigating
any lawn, garden, landscaped area, asph'alt area, concrete area, or any other area of such
property;
(c) For the purposes. of section 1.(a). "owner" shall be deemed to include persons who
are shown as such on the then current assessment rolls for the Town of Goderich, or per-
sons who are registered owners of property as disclosed in the records of the Land Registry
Office.
2 This by-law shall be deemed not to'prohibit the otherwise lawful use of water from the
municipal water system during the months of January to May,,,both,inclusive, and October
to December both inclusive in any calender year. •
3 During the months of June, July. August and September in any year, this by-law shall„
be deemed not prohibit the otherwise lawful use of water from the municipal water system
as follows;
(a) Water may be used for all lawful purposes'with respect to properties which lie entirely
to the east of an imaginary line drawn from the intersection of the Centre line of North
Street with the northerly boundary of the Town of Goderich; thence southerly albng the
centre line of North Street to its intersection with Court House Square; thence southerly
along the southerly production of the centre line of North Street of its intersection with
the northerly point of the centre line of South Street; thence southerly along the centre
line of South Street to its intersection with the southerly boundary of the Town of Goderich,
but only during the hours of 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. local time Monday. Wednesday and Friday
and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. local time Sunday in each week;
(b) Water may be used for all lawful purposes with respect to properties which lie entirely
to the west of the imaginary line described in section 3(a) but only during,the hours of 6
p.m. to 9 p.m'. local time Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. local time
Sunday in each week.'
4 Notwithstanding Section 1 the commission. or its authorized officer, may by special per-
mit, permit the use of water from the municipal water system for all otherwise lawful pur-
poses on such terms and conditions as the Commission or its authorized officer deems
advisable. Each of the Chairman, Vice -Chairman. Manager and Secretary of•the Commis-
sion is deemed to be an,authorized officer within the meaning of this by-law. Special per-•
mits will be in a form silimar to that in attached Schedule "A" which forms a part of this
by-law.
5 Notwithstanding Sections 2, 3 and 4 of this by-law. in the event of a fire to which the
Town of Goderich Fire Department is called, no person being the owner, tenant, or occu-
pant, or having the apparent care and control of property.•upon notification shall permit
water from the municipal water•systern to be used for the purposes of washing, watering
or irrigating any lawn, garden. landscaped area. asphalt area, concrete area, or any other
area of such property)
6 This by-law shall be deemed not to apply to The Municipal Corporation of the Town of
Goderich.
7 Anyone who contravenes this by-law is guilty of an offence and is liable on cdnviction
to a fine of not more than 300 dollars,
8'Ry-law No. 19 of The Public Utilities Commission of the Town of Goderich passed on
the 15th day of June, 1978 is hereby repealed save with respect to proceedings which have\
been commenced under By-law No 19 prior to this date of final passage of this by-law.
9 This by-law may be referred to as "The Watering Control By-law'.
10 This by-law shall take effect frorrn and after the date of Its final passage.

BAYFIELD - A $200,000 Tourist Term
Loan has been approved by the Ontario
Development Corporation for 'i he Little Inn,
it was announced recently by Jack Riddell,
Minister of Agriculture and Food, and MPP
for Huron -Middlesex, and Industry, Trade
and Technology Minister Hugh'P. O'Neil.
"The loan will assist in the construction of
additional facilities for this historic inn;"
Mr. O'Neil said. "It is estimated that an ad-
ditional 10 full tirnejobs will be created over
the next five years."
' A 6,232 square foot, two-storey building
will' be erected across the street from the
inn. The new structure will contain 10 large,
deluxe guest suites, surrounding a central
lounge/meeting room. The design of the
building will be in keeping with the present
inn, which was built in 1832.

The Wilkins family were in Ridgetown'
last Friday to attend the graduating exer-
vises for Ken Wilkins from the Ridgetown
Agricultural College where Ken has been a
student for the past two years. Congratula-
tions„Ken ! ,
George and. Finlay MacDonald have
returned 'from their annual fishing trip to
Northern Ontario at Lake Panache. The
fish were not biting, but it was a nice
outing and they found the weather much to
their liking.
Rhetta MacLennan r'turned home after
spending a few weeks a week in Kitchener
with her daughter Florence MacLennan.
The monthly meeting of the WMS of the
Ashfield Presbyterian Church was held
Thursday evening at the home of Mari
MacLean.
The community would like to con-
gratulate Gayle MacKenzie, daughter of
Jack and Bertha Mackenzie of RR 3
Lucknow on her graduation from Ryerson
Polytechnical Institute with a Bachelor of
Applied Arts degree in Food Nutrition,
Consumer and Food Studies. Gayle will be
starting a Master's degree at York Univer-
sity in Toronto in September. Congratula-
tions, Gayler
Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Gor-
don Robb was Glen Robb of Ashfield
Township, Bob and Sandra Darling and
family of Chesley, and William and Shirley

Cecil and Jim Webster of Waterloo and
their mother Kae Webster visited recently
with Norma Young in Goderich.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Robb spent Satur-
day in Chesley with Bob and Sandra Dart;
ing and family. On Saturday they
journeyed to Wiarton where they met Ed-
win and Janice McClutcheon and family of
Lion's Head. They all. had dinner and
visited with each other for a few hours.
