Goderich Town Council has authorized
JAD Engineering of Owen Sound to
oversee construction and handle tenures
for acoustical improvements at Memorial
Arena.
JAD's fee for the service is $7,000
Council has a number of concerns regar-
ding the project: the total cost must not ex-
ceed the budget' of $60,000, the appearance
of the sound absorbing material is impor-
tant,' the material must be durable ( i.e.
hockey pucks ), the material must work
and the suitability of the existing sound
system and cost of changes, if necessary.
Work on the project is expected to begin
in the near future, said Recreation Direc-
tor, Jane Netzke.
Seniors to
hold Monwalk
During Canada Fitweek Celebrations,
seniors from Goderich are invited to take
part in an "Elderobic Moonwalk" sponsored
by the MacKay Centre for Seniors..
You might ask what is an 'Elderobic
Moonwalk"? Every year .during Canada
Fitweek, seniors (55 and over) all over
Canada. take part in organized walks. Their
miles are totalled and hopefully will add up
to .enough miles to get them to the moon -
'hence the name. Last • year, Canadian
seniors mileage totalled' 258,000 miles,
enough indeed to get them to the moon.
If you are interested in taking part, just
turn up at MacKay Centre between 1:30 and
4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 'L6 ( Raindate May
28). Routes and maps will be available and
refreshments will be served. ' If you can't
make it that day but plan to be walking dur-
ing Canada Fitweek ( May 22-31) you can
still addyour miles tb the total by calling
'them into the MacKay Centre at 524-6660.
For further information, please call
Kathleen Buckley at MacKay Cente -.
