Holmesville School recently took part in a World Book Read-a-Thon and,114 students pai
ticipated. The school earned $3052.73 along with four World Book sets, four Childcraft set,

Holmesville school recently took part in
an exciting contest which helped increase
the student's, interest in reading and
achieving personal achievement.
The school was involved.in World Book's
"Partners in Excellence" read-a-thon: In
•this program,. when the school raises
$2,000, World Book adds $1,000 which the
school uses for the pdrchase of World Book
,sets,
Holniesville School, with 114 students in-
volved,, raised •$2,035.15: World Book mat-
ched $1 for every $2 raised which brought
the total to $3,052.73. The school also earn-
ed Many 'sets of books including 'four World
Books, four Childcraft, Wald Book
Dictionaries.and one Atlas.
The key to the program is for -each stu-
dent to sign up seven sponsors and read
seven books within seven weeks. Incen-
tives included silver and gold medals and
certificates. ,
One free science set was given to Mrs:
Dorie Chisholm's class for 'reading the
most books. There were 67"students receiv-
ing gold medals and 12 received silver.

MacLennan will be returning to -the school
this week to conduct a "Look it Up Club"
program which will help the students get
the most out of World Book, Fallowing this,
the. students will •receive Look It Up cer-
tificates and pins.
MacLennan would like to thank the com-
munity for their support, the students who
worked hard, the school's staff, acting
principal Mrs. Jean Turner and Mr. John
Kane for his support and enthusiasm.
