It was Kildeers 4 and Vikings and
Salukis 2 a piece in Huron -Perth senior
soccer here Friday. The Kildeer got into
the act by guarding her nest in the middle
of the Vikings' soccer field during the
Huron -Perth track meet here last Tuesday
and Wednesday. GDCI coaches and
athletes built a protective barrier around
the nest and the bird gained the confidence
to remain on her four eggs as the track
meet progressed around her. Rather than
disturb the nest when it came time for Fri-
day's soccer game between the GDCI Vik-
ings and the St. Marys Salukis, school of-
ficials moved the game to Agricultural
Park.
And quite a game it was. The two
undefeated teams played excellent soccer
in playing to a 2-2 draw.
The Vikings, playing without five of their
regular starters, and using three players
who.were playing in their first game of the
year showed great heart in gaining the tie.
Todd Graham, probably the league's finest
individual player, scored both Viking goals
in the second half, one on a penalty kick,
the other on a•magnificent head ball on a
pass from Pat Frayne.
Jay Hayden had given the Salukis a 1-0
lead in the first half and Jeff Slater got
credit for the other St. Marys goal when
the ball was accidently kicked into the
. Goderieh goal by a Viking defender in the
second half.
. The Vikings got some stellar perfor-
mances from several players. Larry Lepp-
ington, making his first start in goal for the
Vikings was solid. Ian MacKinnon filling
in, at centre.half, was extremely effective
and Todd Wilson, in his first game of the
year, was a tower of strength at his left
fullback position where he shut down
Salukis' scoring threat Scott G,arrow. Pat
Frayne, who started the game as, a . for-
ward, was instrumental in preserving the
tie when coach Dick Madge moved him to
a fullback position in the secondhalf. John
Kalbfleisch played. well at halfback • and
almost won, the game for the Vikings when
his shot at the 25 minute mark of the se-
cond half deflected off the St. Marys' goal
post.
Darryl Black and Kevin- Talbot con-
tributed in their first start for the Vikings
and junior Ken Webb added considerably
to the Viking offence in the. second half.
- Things get no easier for the Vikings -this
week., Wednesday., they entertain the also
undefeated. Stratford Central Rams. The
location of the game depends on the
Kildeers.

ceed the budget of $60,000,'the'appearance
of the sound absorbing material is impor-
tant, the material, must be durable f i.e.
hockey pucks ), the material must work
and the suitability of the existing sound
