W Women's Institute District President pf West Huron Louise Elliot visited. the Dungannon WI for their annual meeting held on April 2 at the home of the president Elmira Finnigan. After singing grace, the ladies enjoyed a pot-lucll dinner at noon. The rollcall was the payment of fees. The minutes, financial statement and correspondence was given by the secretary -treasurer. From the minutes, the members were reminded ogf the Butler Project; the Pennies for Friendship 4 -I -I Club; and the planning meeting for the District Annual on Monday, April 6 at Londesboro. A thank -you note was received from Beth and Wilmer Rutledge for the lovely men's Instit rte wreath wall hanging they received trom the institute for their 50th anniversary. The institute will again this year present a Proficiency Award to the scholar who has the highest marks in Grade 8. At this time, the annual meeting was held. The reading of the minutes of last year's annual meeting were read and adopted. All chairs were declared vacant. The secretary Alma Black was appointed secretary for the annual meeting. The reports of all standing committees and president's- summary for the year were given. The slate of officers for the year 1987-88 were read by Myrtle Kerr on behalf of the nominating committee. The District Presi- dent Louise Elliot installed the 1987-88 of- ficers. fficers eIecteA f 5 r 1978 - At this time, Louise brought greetings from the West Huron district. In her talk, she gave the members some pointers and tips on making learning easier. The members were also informed of the new handbook which is corning out. President Elmira Finnigan, thanked her and presented her with a gift from the institute. The meeting closed with the reading of a poem about Easter. The 1987-88 officers are: Ila Crozier (Past -President), Elmira Finnigan (President), Mary Robson (First Vice - President), Jean Errington (Second Vice - President), A2ma Black ( Secretary- Treasuer ), Roberta Linskill (Assistant Secretary), Ila Crozier (District Direc- tor), Winnifred Girvin (Alternate District 8 Director), Myrtle Kerr, Lois Lee and Beth Rutledge (branch directors) , Ila Crozier ( Public Relations Officer), Peg Purdon (Assistant Public Relations), Marion Zinn (Curator), Jean Errington, Willetta McWhinney (Assistant Curators), Olive Chisholm (Program Co -Ordinator), Roberta Linskill (Pianist), Dora Alton (Assistant Pianist), and "Dorothy Harris and Melba Park (Auditors) . Standing committee convenors are: Joan Dougherty and Tillie Logtenberg (Agriculture andCanadian Industries), Ila Crozier (Citizenship and Legislation), Mary Robson and Lois Lee ( education and Cultural Activities), Willetta McWhinney and Roberta Linskill .(Family and Con- sumer Affairs), and Donna Young (Resolutions). CB Club holds first meeting CLINTON - The CCB Club held their first Meeting of the season on April 21 in the Wesley -Willis United Church Hall. • The meeting was opened with the national anthem, and a short prayer. Roll call was answered with everyone giving a name of a bird or a flower. During the business portion of the meeting, it was decided that 8 p.m. on May 19 there would be a Dixie Lee Chicken and Salad Supper. Those planning to attend should phone 482-7406 no later than May 14.
