Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anderson visited fur
Easter with their son William of
Newmarket.
There will be a Goodwill Pickup of dona-
tions of clothes, etc., at Knox United
Church. Please havert les at the church
early on Monday,a1G)`y 11 in the morning.
The UCW yard sale will be on May 16 at
the Cnnununity•Hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Greg Park attended the
hockey game of the Maple Leaf Red Wings
in Toronto on Saturday evening.
On Sunday, April 26 Earl Raithby
celebrated his 90th birthday. He was born in
Auburn in 1897. He farmed east of Auburn
for 25 years. He retired to Goderich where
he worked for the Goderich Orgarl Company
and also Herco?Sales Company. The family
held a birthday party in his honor at Huron -
view where he now resides. Guests wre
from Brantford, Kincardine., Bayfield,
Goderich and Auburn.
Knox church service •
Rev. Pickell of Goderich conducted the
morning service at Knox United Church.
Organ prelude by Mrs. Gordon Gross. Call
to worship, prayer of invocation and life and
work, of the church wre given. The hymn of
praise was 'Jesus where-er thy people
meet'. The senior choir sang '0 worship the
King' with choir director I.ur•i Millian as
pianist. The children's hymn 'Birds are
singing' was sung. The children's story was
given and they then went to Su qday School
with teachers Mrs. Middlekanip and the
Cunningham girls. Rev. Pickell's sermon
was entitled :Windows into heaven'.
Prayers of commitment and concern were
given followed by the Lord's prayer. The of-
fering was received by Larry Plaetzer and
Greg Park.. The minister pronounced the
benediction and the service closed with the
congregational benediction,

UCW Easter service
The Auburn UCW met at the church on
April 22. Guests were present from
Goderich, Benmiller and the village.
. Mrs. Gordon Gross opened the service
with a poem followed by the singing of the
hymn 'Lead me to Calvary'. Mrs. Marinus
Bakker read the scripture and Mrs. Gross
gave the meditation talking about the stone
on Christ's grave and comparing Mary to
the women of today. Miss Tammy Shut-
tleworth,:Karen Bakker, Anita Gross and
Lori Millian san'g 'Do you know Jesus" ac-
companied by Mrs. Barry Milken.
Mrs. Elliot Lapp introduced the guest
speaker, Mrs. R. Gelwicks of Blyth.
Mrs. Gelwicks began her inspiring ad-
dress with the poem `Footprints in the sand'
and spoke of the prescence of God in our
lives and how Christ carries us through dif-
ficulties. She spoke on several people in the
old and new testament and of their desire to
be like God. She also spoke on love and
security in God and the knowledge that he
will not forsake us. We must learn to live
and love by Faith. She told of her own likfe
and how she learned to know and unders-
tand God. Eventually she and her husband
went to Bible School and then he went into
the ministry. Mrs. Robert Arthur thanked
Mrs. Gelv'Cks and everyone showed their
appreciation. Mrs. Fred Armstrong closed
the worship with prayer.

all and invited them to stay for lunch and to
look at the layettes on display. They are for
distribution to the Goderich Friendship
House and FCS. A ssc'ine followed.
There were 22'members and two visitors
at the WI annual banquet held, Thursday
April 23 at the Candlelight in Goderich. The
meeting opened with the Institute Ode, Col-
lect, Grace and the Queen.
The president, Mrs. Len Archambault,
welcomed all. The minutes and financial
report were given by the secretary, Mrs.
Robert Peck and the correspondence was
read. The District president, Mrs. Lois
Elliot, spoke to the women on tips to im-
prove our knowledge, changes in WI pro-
grams and' on public relations. The district
annual will be held at Blyth on May 25. All
conveners gaire their yearly reports, and
were handed in.

veners of standing committees for 1987-88:

The district annual for.1988 will be held in
Auburn.

The .W.M.S. ( W.D.) Afternoon Auxiliary
meeting at Knox Presbyterian Church April
14th was special. It was the Easter Message.
The President, Mrs. D. Murchison, opened
the meeting with the scripture passage, St.
John 16, 5-8 and a poem "The Light of the
World is Jesus followed by prayer.
Members joined in singing the hymn "In the
oss of Christ I Glory" and secretary, Jean
cott, gave the roll call and minutes of last
meeting.
Reports were received from treasurer
Mrs. G.C. White and supply, Mrs: G.
MaeEwan. Members were pleased to note
that the book "VIMY" written by Pierrie
Berton was purchased as a gift for Mr. J.
Pollock who asked all members to sign their

Announcement was made that the Ex-
ecutive meeting for the Presbytery will be
Tuesday, May 12th in Mitchell. A vote of
thanks was given to the president for her
wise selection of bedding etc. for Armagh.
Home for Abused Women and children.
Mrs. J. Pollock, with India as the theme .
for devotions, gave interesting information
'regarding the -subject and Ida White, a
former missionary- in India talked of condi-
tions, people, teachings and:the joy of bring-
ing the Christian message to the people, and
'informed members about work mis-
sionaries are now doing in Delhi.
Members joined in singing hymn "Come
let us sing of a wonderful love” Mrs. Pollock
then continued the devout devotions with the
Easter- message "The Tomb ,is empty but
Christ is everywhere". Dorothy Reed read
the Easter message from the Bible, devo-
tions continued with the story from the Glad
Tidings; "My name is Mary" closing with'
prayer by Mrs. G. Kaitting.
Plans have. been made for the May
meeting which has been changed, to a joint
meeting with the Arthur Circle, Monday,
May 18th. Potluck meal, is set' for Knox
Church at 6:30 p.m. Guest speaker is Rev.
G.L. Royal. -
