Bev rown hired as co=ordinator
for Homemakers home program
At the regular monthly' meeting of 'Town
and Country Homemakers held at the
U.M.A.F. office in Clinton on March 25, Bev
Brown was hired as co-ordinator for the
flame Support Program of 'Town and Coun-
t try Homemakers. Her office will be in the
Homemakers building on Victoria Street in
Wingham.
This new position was. created because of
a tremendous increase in business for
.T.C.H. as a result of the New Integrated
Prograrn. '
Plans were made for the Board of Direc-
tors to be in attendance at Ellison's Travel
Shaw in Clinton,.on April 2.. Proceeds of the
travel .show are to be donated to Town and
Country Homemakers.
Jean Young, executive -director, reported
the fund raising campaign, that started in
the fall and extended into the new year net-
ted just over $13,000.
The hoard of directors were very pleased
and wish to thank all donors and to the
businesses that bought ads for our place-
ment, that were .distributed throughout the
county at the beginning of the campaign.
Helen Underwood and her committee an-
nounced final plans far the Annual Meeting
and Banquet to be held in Hoimesville on
Tues. April 14. Joe Cordiano M.P.P. I assis-
tant to the minister of Community and
'Social Services i will be quest speaker. Door
prizes will be offered. The draw for the,
handmade quilt • and four, dinners at
R bindale's. r
Youth employment pro a - to begin
The Agricrew and Junior Agriculturalist
Programs will be -starting in Huron County
in, the very near future. Similar in a1
respects to last year, a Youth Employme t
Co-ordinator will be responsible for both
programs. Two Co-ordinators will work
out of the Huron County Agricultural Of-
fice, and will begin work on May 4. Donna
Keiffer will be covering Huron South, and
Susan Diemert will be Youth Employment
Co-ordinator for North Huron.
• Agricrews are teams of enthusiastic
students, 15-24 years of age, hired to work
for farmers from mid-June to mid-August.
The cost to. the farmer will be $90.00 for an
eight_ hour day. .Students, interested in
Agricrew as a summer job should have
sortie farming experience and be capable
of hard physical labour. Students will be
paid the provincial minimum wage..
The Junior Agriculturalist Program is
designed to give.urban students between
the ages of 16-18 as of January 1,, 1987 a
chance to gain some valuable agricultural
experience."The program is aimed at
bridging the urban -rural gap. Students are
interviewed and placed on a suitable farm
for a nine week period extending from
mid-June to mid-August. The student
receives $20.00 per day as a training
allowance, with the farmer contributing
$10.00 and the government the remainder.
The farmer also provides room and board.
Applications are now available at the
'Clinton OMAF office for students and
Junior Agriculturalist host farmers.
The Canadoc arrived at the Goderich
Harbour froth Thunder Bay. with a part
load of grain on April 19 ;and ..cleared for
Collingwood with a part load on April 20.
The Ontadoc arrived from Toronto light
to load on April 21 and cleared on April 22
to Thunder Bay.
On April 14, the-Beechglen' cleared for
Thunder Bay, light. '

HARB R REPORT
Hurd returned for the season, April 17.
The Roger M. Kyes is due to arrive on
April 30 for salt. It will be the boat's first
trip' to Goderich.
