Hully Gully, near Clinton, gives people
the opportunity to experience the thrill of
speeding around a racetrack and flying
throught the air on a motorcycle.
Beginners can learn the basics and the
more experienced riders can hone their
skills at Hully Gully's motocross and ATV
(all terrain vehicle) summer recreational
camps and clinics.
"We will show you how to consistarttly
finish at the top. You'll develop the con-
fidence you need to win, you'lllearn to ride
fast, safe and most of all have fun."
Week long camps for $275 and one day
clinics for $35 are Conducted by expert
riders. The camps include lessons and a
video of your ride for' discussion.
Hully Gully has been holding competive •
racing for all age groups and for all skill
levels for ten years.
There are two classes for riders under
15. School boy 80B for novice riders on
80.cc bikes and after three wins the rider
moves up to 80A.
The junior division has no age limit and
1iders compete in 125cc, 250cc and
open(500cc) classes. After a year at this
level riders can move up to senior and race
for cash prizes. School boy and junior race
for trophies.
If a rider is good enough at senior he
moves up to expert and,the prize money in-
creases for all classes.
Prize money comes from the entry fees.
Fees for all classes are combined and
seniors receice 30 per cent of their money
and experts 70 per cent of -theirs.
The 1987 motocross season begins Satur-
day,April 18..
According to former Supercross rider
Chuck Collins, when a rider reaches expert
he is as good as he can get and can com-
pete at any level.
Collins. has raced all across Canada for
12 years, but now concentrates on the
business end of Hully Gully, selling bikes
and ATVs.
• He left competitive racing because of the
danger and injuries. "I have had my share
of broken bones," he said
The last staw came, for Collins when he
was running second in a qualifier at the
Pontiac Silver Dome..in Michigan and'com-
ming 'off a jump another rider landed on
top of him. Collins however, still rides in'
all CMA(Canaflian Motorcycle Associa-
tion) events at Hully Gully. -
According to Collins, there was a pro-
blenva, few' years ago at Hully Gully'with
injuries, because the runs were steeper
and the jumps more peaked. They made

the track smoother and the jumps'rounder
because the insurance costs per race were
becoming too high, said Collins.
"The riders don't like it but they unders-
tand," he said
For the less competitive rider Hully Gul-
ly also has a, house league where riders
•compete in 125, 250 and open classes.
House league begins April 18 and runs
through Sept. 12. Races are held on Satur-
days, the day before the pros on Sunday.
There are two races and total .points
wins. First place riders receive 15 points'
and in the event of a tie the winner of the
second race wins., Riders compete for a
