Maria Amalia Garza -Rodriguez at Hiigelsheim, West Ger- many on December 5; 1986. 'Molly' is the daughter of Gregorio Garza Gonzalez and Dr. Maria Rodriguex de Garza of Monter- rey, Mexico: Molly ' graduated from the University of Monterrey in Graphic Design in 1985. Michael is in the Canadian Airforce stationed at Baden-Baden, West Germany. Michael and Molly are living at 47 Haupt- strabe, 7571 Hi'igelsheim-Rastatt, West Germany. Connie Cuthbertson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam' Cuthbertson of Smithfalls, and Raymond Aubut, - son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Aubut, of Goderich, were united in marriage at Victoria Street United Church in Goderich on March 28, 1987. In atten- dance were Mary -Jane Cuthbertson of Woodstock (maid of honor, sister of the bride), Capt. Ken 'Bozell of the Com- monwealth Forces in England (best man, brother of throom), with ushers Cliffors Reid off Holthesville, Gord Blackwell of Toronto and, Michael Thomlinson of Srnithfalls. Following the ceremony, a din- ner and reception was held at the home of Bill and Betty Reid of Saltford. Partnership will help immunize the world's children FRANK EDGAR BOWRA Mr, Frank Edgar Bowra, of Goderich, died at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital on Monday, April 13 at the age of 77. Born in Hastings, Sussex County, England on September 30, 1909, he was the son of the late Frederich William Bowra and the former Rose Amy Green. He married Margaret Lindsay of London, Ontario on August 6, 1932 at St. George's Church in Goderich. The late Mr. Bowra was a mechanic at Champion Road Machinery until his retire- ment.,He was a member.,of 'St, George's Anglian Church; IOOF Huron Lodge No. 62; and past officer of Canadian Order of Foresters No. 32. Surviving besides his wife are'two sons, Bev and his wife Margaret of Carlisle, and James and his wife Diane of Hope, B.C.; one daughter, Sibyl (Mrs. Joe Riehl) of Goderich. One brother Fred of Stratford also survives. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by one brother, George. A funeral service was held at St. George's Anglican Church in Goderich on Thursday, April 16 with Rev. Robert J. Crocker of St. George's Anglican Church officiating. The IOOF Huron Lodge No. 62 held a ser- vice on Wednesday evening at the Mc- Callum and Palla Funeral Home. Inter- ment in Maitland Cemetery: Pallbearers were' Clifford Crozier, Howard Thompson, Jack Walker, Stan Mcllwain, Gordon Harrison and Walter Mcllwain. MARY MARGARET HARVEY Mary Margaret Harvey, of Hillside Rest Home RR 5 Stratford, died at her residence on Saturday, April 18 at the age of 80. Born in Southampton, Ontario on April 22, 1906, she was the daughter of the 'late Jonothan Rawn and the former Margaret Humphreys. She married Sidney Harvey who predeceased her. She was a laundress at Huronview until her retirement. She was also a member of Bethel Pentecostal Church.. . - Surviving are children, William of Exeter, Harold (Bud) of Goderich, Ruth '(Mrs. Joe Berry) of Goderich Township, Alfred of Huron Park; Ruby (Mrs. Bill Lynch) of Hamilton, Ronald of London and Art of Lon- don. Also surviving are one ;brother Melvin and four sisters, Nettie, Ada, Mildred and Sadie. Twenty-eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren survive. The late'Mrs.•Harvey was predeceased by ' her husband and one sister, Edna. The funeral service was. held at the Mc- Callum and Pella Funeral Home Ion Tues- day, April 21 with Rev. Gerald McMillan of Bethel Pentecostal Church officiating assisted by Rev. Mark .Starr. Interment in Maitland Cemetery. Pallbearers.• were grandsons Wayne Harvey, Don Harvey, Ron Harvey, Gary Harvey, Jim Harvey and Alf Harvey Jr. MRS. MARGARET JEAN GOVIER Mrs.' Margaret Jean, Govier, of Kens- ington Village in London, Ontario, died at her residence on Friday, Aprif 17 at the age of 74. Born in Stanley Township on October 15, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Evans and the former Sophia Hannah Beevers. She was predeceased by her hus- band, John Lewis Govier. She was a secretary at Knox Presbyterian Church for 31 years until her retirement in 1979: She was a member of Knox Church. The late Mrs. Govier is lovingly remembered by Dr. John and Marry Sim- mons, Dave' and Brian,' Janice and Greg Ferris all of London. Also surviving are several nieces ;anti nephews; Wilma Radford of 'London, Beth (Mrs. Jack Hamilton') •of London, Gladys (Mrs. W.N. Watters) of Goderich, Edna (Mrs. Harold Adams) of Clinton, Rhoda. (Mrs. Spence Hann) of Waterloo, Elva (Mrs. Harry McEwan) of Chatham, Donald Govier of Toronto and Mrs. Maxine ' Rutledge of Port Colborne. The funeral service was held at the Mc- Callum and Pella Funeral Home with Rev. The Canadian Public Health Association CPHA) and the Canadian Rotary Commit- tee for International Development (CRCID) have entered into a partnership to help im- munize the children of the world. Supported by the Canadian International Development Agency, CPHA has allocated $1,691,777 to CRCID for use in Rotary International's PolioPlus immunization projects in nine developing countries. The funds, to be administered through The Rotary Foundation of Rotary Interna- tional, will be used in Burundi, Comoros, Congo, Ghana, Haiti, Ivory,-aCoast, Mauritius, Nigeria, and Zambia. Through its PolioPlus Program, Rotary has pledged to promote and assist polio im- munization of all children in developing na- tions worldwide and to raise $120 million US to fund this effort Chairman of Canada's PolioPlus Commit- tee, Gerald R. Wooll, of St. Catharines, ex- pressed appreciation on behalf of the more than 26,000 Canadian Rotarians for CPHA's generous contribution to the international fundraising effort. "The co-operative efforts of the public and private sectors, in Canada and around the world, are essential to the success of Universal Child Immunization. Working together, we can defeat those diseases which still kill 3.5 million children in developing countries every year." Both Rotary and CPHA share the World. Health Organization's (WHO) commitment to Universal Child Immunization by 1990. Through its PolioPlus Program, Rotary works with WHO, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and ap- propriate health authorities to assist na- tional Expanded Programs on Immunization. To date, .The Rotary Foundation ha'h ap- proved $37.4 million US for accelerated im- munization efforts in 42 nations to protect more than 240 million children. Annie Elizabeth Betties Annie Elizabeth Betties, of Clinton and formerly of Goderich Township, died in the Clinton Public Hospital on April 13, She was 85 years old. Mrs. Betties was born in Goderich Township on August 6', 1901. to the late Walter and Frances l Cerson) Weston. On March 27, 1918 she married G. Allen Betties at theVeston farm in Goderich Township. The couple celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this year: Mrs. Betties was a member of Wesley - Willis United Church and a former member of Porter's Hill United Church, She is survived by her husband, one son, Alvin and his wife Barbara of RR2 Bayfield, and four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Mrs. Betties was predeceased by . one sister, Mrs. Frank I Eleanor) Picot. A funeral and committal service was held on April 15 at Ball and Falconer Funeral Home, Clinton, with Rey. James Bechtel officiating. ' Interment in Clinton Cemetery.
