Students in Mrs. Freeman's kindergarten class at Robertson Memorial Public School were
treated to a classroom" visitor last Thursday in honor of Eager. Snowball, a white rabbit,

president of Dungannon. WI

.West Huron, 'Louise visited Dungan-
non WI for their Annual Meeting held April 2
at the home of the president Elmira
Finnigan. •
After singing grace, the• ladies enjoyed a
pot luck dinner at noon.. The roll call was the
payment of fees. " .
The minutes, financial statement and cor-
respondence was given by the. secretary-
treasurer.From the minutes, we were
reminded of -The Butler project; the pennies
for "Friendship" 4-H .club;. the planning
meeting forthe District Annual. on Monday
April'6 at L'ondesboro at 1:30 p.m. 'A thank-:
you card from Beth and Wilmer • Rutledge
for the lovely wreath wall hanging they
received. from ,the Institute for their 50th an-
niversary. The Ltstitute will again this year,
present a Profiting (Award to the scholar
who has the highest marks in grade 8. ..
At this time, the annual meeting was held.
The reading of the minutes of last year's an-
nual meeting. were read and adopted. All
chairs were declared vacant. The secretary
Alma Black was appointed secretary for the
annual meeting. The reports of all standing
committees and presidents summary for.
the year were given. The slate of officers
for the year -1987-88 were read by, Myrtle
Kerr on behalf of. the nominating commit-
tee. 'fire, District President Louis Elliot in-
stalled the 1987-88 officers: At this. time,
Louis bi ought greetings from the West
Huron district. In her talk, she gave us
some pointers and tips on making learning
easier. 'We were•also informed of the new
handbook which is comtng out. The cost will
.be $5. President Elmira Finnigan thanked
her and presented her with'a•gift from the
institute. The meeting closed with the
reading of a poem about Easter.' .

Nile UCW meets
Eleven members of Nile U.C.W met at the
home of Karen Roberts for the Easter
meeting.
Shirley Dustow, in charge of Christian
Development, began her program with the
hymn "Jesus Christ is the Light of the
World." Several members told of times in
their lives when they experienced hope and
assurance through their faith in the lord.
Shirley had made a bouquet and a wreath
using white, purple and yellow and she ex-
plained the connection of each of these col-
ours to Easter. Karen Robert gave a
reading on the Crucifixion and Yvonne
fot Easter
Pentland offered pra1er.
Business included serving lunch .at the
Huron County Historical'Society's meeting
to be held at Nile Church April 30 at 8 p.m.
and an invitation from Trinity to attend
their Thank Offering meeting April 26 at
7:45. Since 1987 is th'e'25th anniversary of the
UCW the treasurer Yvonne Pentland was
asked to order ten UCW pins.
Beth Rutledge won the draw for the
wreath.
A dessert lunch was served by the
hostesses Karen Roberts and Joan
Dougherty. .
Port Albert 4-H Club learns
about the history of cotton

The Port Albert Club met at Donna
Iiaydens at 7 p.m. for the first meeting of
Sewing Plus on April 15.
The meeting began with the rollcall and
then proceded with talk of different types
of blouses. Then members wrote down pat-
tern numbers which had suitable blouses
for this club.
The .leaders informed the members
about notions, fabric, fabric blends and ip-
terfacing the members could use to com-
plete our projects. The group then discuss-
ed the equipment needed for sewing. A
review quiz was taken up after the
members had filled in all they could.
Next. they discussed how to straighten
their fabrics and how and what to do when
they pre -wash the material. Horne ac-
tivities were assigned and they then went
on tonieeting two.
Meeting Two
Meeting two was based on facts about
cotton and how to cut your material.
The leaders talked about the history of
cotton and then of different blends of .cot-
ton. Alterations, cutting and marking
where the next topics discussed among the
club and then the members were assigned
home activities. For next week, they were
asked' to take any scraps of our material
they had so we could do samples for the
project.
The members then decided"who the of-
ficers would be. President is Marsha Bonk.
-vice president is Tracy Black, Secretary to
Lisa Scott and press reporter is Melissa
Logtenberg. The members decided our
club name would be the So and So's and ad-
journed the meeting at 9:15 p.m.
WI learns about ACWW group
The April meeting of the Goderich
Township Womens Institute was held in the
Goderich Township Community ('entre. .
Hazel McCreath conducted the opening
and Helen Fuller took the roll call and read
the minutes of the last meeting.
Helen gave information oh sodium content
and how you should read product labels
since it is in most iterins. The ladies also
learned how the sugar subsitute sof
sacharin has sodium but Nutra Sweet does
not.
Alice Porter gave information on how
ACWW helps people in other countries by
training leaders in basic health skills,
hornecraft, child rare and nu.rition. They
go home and pass on their information.
These•are a few of^the reasons why ACWW
needs donations of money.
The annual. meeting followed with the
minutes and reports being given. OfficcrS
were elected by acclamation.
:ongratulations ektended
Congratulations to Gord and Maria
Hardcastle of London on their chosen
17 -month-old daughter Charlene. Another
grandchild for Dennis and Irene Dalton.
Glenn Ferguson and his children Joan,
Glenn Jr. and Nathan went to Delhi for the
weekend to visit with Glenn's mother
Ellie.
We wish Dennis Dalton a speedy
recovery as he is a patient in Goderich
hospital.
Visiting with Cathy Dalton on the
weekend were some of her school friends,
Joy Becker of Lucknow and Traci Curran
of I)'ungannon.
Foresters
}resent $2,827
to groups at
spring dance
On Saturday, April 4, the, Beniniller
Foresters held their annual spring dance at
the Saltford Valley Hall.
On behalf of both' the mens and ladies'
lodges, president Phil Foster thanked
everyone for their support over the past
year. A cheque for $2,200 was presented to
Mr. Mel Farnsworth representing the local
Cancer Society. A portion of this money was -
raised by the Snowmobile Marathon spon-
sored by the Foresters in January.
A cheque for $627 was presented to Mr.
Norm Hill a member of the High Court ex-
ecutive of Brantford. Mr. Hill accepted the
cheque on behalf of High Court who are'
sponsoring the Gaines for the Disabled for
the next five years. He expressed his ap-
preciation to the Benmiller Foresters and
tol all the courts across Canada who have
supported this project. The money was rais-
ed at the Foresters Casino Night held in
March.
Auburn Silver
tops entertain
The April 15 meeting of the Golden Gate
Senior Club of Goderich was a special oc-
casion ..with "Auburn Silver Tops" as
guests: Approximately 70 people
registered and were given name tags and
draw tickets.
After being welcomed by Pres.
Margaret Swan, all joined in singing 0
Canada, followed by the Lord's Prayer.
The President then introduced Reta
Hazels who showed beautiful slides of
Holland, Mich., Black Creek Pioneer
Village and a flower show at the Interna-
tional Flower Centre in Toronto.
Card • games followed and the new
numbering and instruction system, for the
tables provided by . President Margaret
Swan, was used. Hi'gh scorers for. Euchre
were ,Velma McPhee and Jim Blake and
for 500, Ella Bogie and Percy Blundell.
Five lucky people received the draw
prizes.
Rev. Arthur Young asked the blessing as
all sat down to a party type lunch.
Elliott Lapp, on behalf of Auburn Silver
Tops, expressed appreciation of the even-
ing they had all enjoyed. Swan replied with
a wish for continued friendship between
the two clubs.
