Students at Victoria Public School were visited last Friday by
Shirley Day, a Toronto-based author who has written and il-
lustrated three hooks' for .primary and junior school age children.
She was touring the. schools as part of a Writer's Union program
'called "Authors in the School". Ms. Day also visited Robertson
Memorial, Brookside and Holmesville public schools. Here, she

Mrs. Young's grade 1-2 class is working on
a health booklet. We talk. about all kinds of
foods that are. good fop, us... Devon has a
Berenstein Bear book about healthful foods.
On -Friday; Marc h. 27, we went -to Robinson's
Sugar Bush. We really enjoyed our trip.

•Mr. Culp's Grade 4-5 class is studying
transformers in science. Mr. Culp brought a
train . track and Duncan Mowbray, Joshua
Foster and Philip Dickson brought in trains,
engines, cars and transformers. •The class
is sanding the tarnish off the track to get
good contact. We are trying to get more
trains, engines. cars and transformers ih
'the classroom sd each of .us can take .a turn
to work the train. •
For art we are going to .make buildings,
trees, ponds, houses and tunnels to de.6ate-

atethe train track.
Grade 3, Room 10
In our class, we have been doing an
board,. called Spring, is a kaledioscope of
colours.
A few days ago, Tenille Cranston fell down,
the stairs • and sprained •and bruised her
ankle very badly. She had to° go to
Emergency at the hospital and is, now get-
ting around on crutches. On March 31, Je-
nean Todd accidentally got a'bad scrape on
her hand when she was at the door when the •
piano was being wheeled.in. • - .
On April 1, Mrs. Scott gave us, a. cerci -
prehension. and reading test, telling us we
only had four minutes to do it. She told us to
read the whole thing before we did anything
but most of the class just started answering
the questions. There were about 18 ques=
tions and the very lastl one said, "NoW do
the numbers 1 and 2 and draw. a picture of
your favourite anginal." . It was an- April
Fool''s joke.. • '
