Minor softball needs
volunteers to survive
.Registration for minor softball is ap- chanceto play. One team almost folded
'proaching, but if .the program is to be last year because we couldn't find people
‘- viable this year, coaches and volunteers
are desperately needed.
Registration for minor softball will be
held at the meeting room in the grands-
tand Tuesday, April 14 and Wednesday,
April 15 from 4:30 - 7:30 p.rn. Softball
- • registration is $15 for children born up to
Dec. 31, 1981 and T -ball registration -is 18
for children born from Jan, 1,1982 to Dec.
31, 1983,
M4itior softball is booming again in town
but spokesman Ron Klages said that due to
the popularity of adult slowpitch leagues it,
is difficult to attract coaches and
volunteers. Last year about 250 children
were registered in the' program.
•'We've only got three people on the ex-
ecutive and we definitely need volunteers
for coaching and helping out with the
kids,'' Klages (•aid -The kids

A special meeting will be held Thursday, •
April 23 at the grandstand for anyone,
parents and volunteers, willing to help
make the minor softball program "a suc-
cess. The meeting will begin at 7:3Q p.m. If
the registration holds up, there could be as
many as 15-20 teams.
Also, the league has scheduled a pitching
clinic for Saturday May 2 at Agriculture
Park with instruction by Doug Neil. The
one -day clinic is free to all minor softball
players and coaches. but pitchers are
reminded they must bring a catcher with .
them. You can pre -register by calling
524-2125.
Remember, if you think you can help
minor softball in any .way attend the
general meeting April 23.
