Blue won 2-1 in the year end, ,round robin tournament. Great goaltending highlighted the match, scoreless until the second period. Blue's Jason Meriam, accounted for all his teams scoring. He opened the scoring in the second period and netted the game winner in the third. Jason Lajeunese and Donnie Rivers combined to score Goderich White's only goal. Goderich Blue opened the tournament with a 7-5,loss to Clinton. Goderich emerged from the first period with 3-3 tie. Clinton opened the scoring in the first minute;, but John Klages unassisted effort tied it less than a minute later. Goals by Meriam from Ben Arm- strong and Trevor Bazinet, unassisted, put the Blues up 3-2,. Clintorrtied the score late in the first and scored the only goal of the second. Meridm scored two goals in the third to complete the hat trick. His first from Scott Mathiesori and Bazinet tied the score and his second' from Klages, gave Goderich 'a 5-4 lead. Clinton eventually overpowered them with three late -period goals to put the game away., Goderich White opened the tournament with a 2-1 win over. Zurich. Zurich scored the only goal of the first period. Goderich pecked away and were rewarded, with second and third period' goals from Rivers. The first unassisted and the second from Lajeunese. In their second game Huron Park .blasted six goals into the Goderich White net. Ron McCarthy's goal from Rivers was the White's only highlight. Goderich, Blue defeated hayfield 4-2 in' their second game to advance to the con- solation final Individual efforts.were the story of this match up; as Klages, Meriam and Bazinet scored unassisted. Ilderton beats Goderich Pee Wees 1- intight game at Park " r ill Tournament Goderich had pulled their goalie in favour of an extra attacker and they several chances to tie the game, but Ilder- ton prevailed 1-0 in the championship game of the Park Hill. Pee Wee` Tourna-, went, Park Hill. , Goderich had .)a much easier time against St. Marys as they hammered them 8-0. Shawn Carver opened the scoring mid- way through the first from 'Stam. Hosak.. Goderich pumped in„five goals in the se- cond period to put the game away. Chris. Burbine made the score 2-0 early in the se- cond from,Marc Melick and. Chris Erb. Brent 'Anderson scored from Jason LeBeau, Tim Stinson connected from Mark Kinahan, Carver and Chris Walker helped on Hosak's goal and Mike LeBrun provided the six goal bulge going into the third when he scored from Melick. ' Stinson's second goal made the score 7-0 • early in the third and Carver's Second from Kinahan ended the route. • Their game against Exeter, was a di-, ferent story. LeBrun',s second goal .of the game from Carver and Anderson in over- time gave Goderich a 5-4 win. ' • The game was ,a see -saw battle. Everytime Goderich took the Lead Exeter tied it up. • Goderich emerged from the first period with a 3-2 lead on goals. from LeBrun from Meliek and Burbine, Melick with help from Burbine and Doug McDonald, and Ander- son from Stinson and Erb. Hosak's goal, sandwiched between two Exeter markers in,the second period made the score 4-4 going into the third. Kinahan aided and abetted Hosak's effort:' Protest- forces cancellation of final Huron -Perth game No winner will be decided Huron -Perth Pee Wee playoffs,:because a protest forced the convenor to cancel the final game bet- ween Goderich and Zurich, . Goderich was leading the game 2-1 on goals Tom Stinson in the first period and an unassisted goal by Shawn Carver in the third. Mark Kinahan assisted Stinson's tally. Goderich -won an earlier match with Blyth by shot on goal in overtime. Brent Anderson scored the only goal of the third period from Michel LeBrun and Chris Erb to tie the game at 1-1. LeBrun had opened the scoring from Kinahan. • Four Huron Park shots found their way into the Goderich net in the second period. The lone Goderich goal by LeBrun made the score 4-3 in Blyth's favour. Two third period goals by Melick, the first from Paul Martin and Carver and the second unassisted, gave Goderich a 5-4 lead. . The team that scores late in the third to tie the game usually Carries momentum into overtime. This game was no excep- tion as Huron Park tied the game with less than two minutes left.
