He was 74 -years -old. • Born in Ealy, England on June 28, 1912, he was the son of the late William Houghton and the torrner Mary Pool. He married the former Irene Catherine Williams who survives him. Mr. Houghton was a farmer and a member of Holmesville United :Church. He was also a member of the C• nadi•an For-este)r Lodge, Benmiller Court Q. 86. Suri irtg are •his wife; two daughters, •Diann and her husband David (Sonny Mallo gh of Goderich,, and Darlene Muilw •k of Clinton; one son, Charles Jr. and his w'ie. In providing the details for the victim assistance program Keyes pointed out that most people are iware that crises are responded. to by pdice on a 24-hour basis -and that counsellingand.professional, social. and other services ire usually available to victims during reguar business hours only. "However," he acded, "it has been found that, if the victim cin be linked quickly into the social services 2ommunity, the victim recovery benefits we enhanced greatly." The victim assistance program is a volunteer -based oneand will be available at the discretion of the police officer respon- ding to'the,crime.
