Ca ii cer Society
needs to raise
S18 million this year
To meet its ongoing commitments in
cancer research, patient services and
education, the Ontario Division of the Cana-
dian Cancer Society needs to raise $18.2
million this year.
''11t is the generous support of the Cana-
dian public that allows, the Canadian Cancer
Society to continue its support of cancer
research, educattuti anti cancer patient ser-
vices," said Ed Zinkiewich, Ontario Divi-
sion Campaign Chairman. "Each year br-
ings us closer to a cure fur cancer."
The money raised during the Society's An-
nual April Campaign will fund existing
research programs as well as the Society's
ongoing Education and Patient Service pro-"?
grates. At present, Education programs
receive 14 per cent of the Society's income,
Patient Services 20 per cent, Administration
and Fund Raising 11 per cent and Research
funding accounts for the remaining 55 per
cent, These figures represent Ontario Divi-
sion expenditure based on a request for a
10 -year average.

"The Society's 1987 slogan — "'Cancer Can
Be Beaten — reflects the ueuet Gnat a cure
will be found for this disease," said Mr.
Zinkiewich.
"There are many types of cancer for
which we have made trehiendous advances
in treatment, but we still have a long road
ahead. We are winning because the support
we receive allows us to make progress in the
fight against cancer." >"`
