Gertrude 'Trewartha played the piano for
the opening exercises. Roll call was taken
with a good attendance,
Minutes of the last meeting were read and
approved. Frank Yeo presented the
treasurer report and a thank ou was react
from the McPhersuns for the $50 and quilt
sent to them after their tire. Illanrhe Ueeves

The next meeting is to be on April 2 at 2

Worship service was held in Holnlesville
United Church on Sunday morning ,with
lieu, James Bechtel officiating. He spoke to
children before going to their classes.

Holmesville U('W held their work meeting
un March 10. Two quilts were completed and
at noun, the members enjoyed a potluck lun-
cheon and a social time was then enjoyed.
President, --Charlotte Norman -opened- the
business portion of the meeting. The
minutes and 2'orrespondence were read and
reports given from the committee
members.
Knitted articles were brought in and pen-
nies were ciillected from the members. Roll
call was a donation to. the St. Christopher's
Home for (',hildren.
Meihbers will be helping at th.e dessert
and euchre to be held at the Goderich
Township Hall on March 25.

Theatre on the Move, a Toronto-based theatre c'ompany', presented
"The Food Show" on Thursday afternoon at Victoria Public School
as part of the Goderich .Recreation Department's "Holiday Hap-
penings" program. The cabaret -style show saw four -performers
tell the audit rine .of apprl►xima•tety'7r5 children about the -four basic
food groups and proper eating habits. The company enlisted' the
talents of four local youngsters to help w ith their production. Tak- -

Christian ed cational rally
to be held i Clint ern on April 10
A public Christian educational rally, spon-
sored by the Canadian 'Christian E'dutation
Foundation I CCEF I-, will be held in Clinton
On Friday, April 10 at the Clinton Christian
'Reformed Church at 7':30 p.m.
The CCEF is a fundraising foundation
which supports the cost of research in the
field of curriculum development for all
. Canadian Christian Schools affiliated with
Christian Schools International '( CSI i, said
Fred Vander Velde, executive director of
CCEF.
"The program of the -Foundation consists
of encouraging study and research in the
field of Christian education, financing CSI
curriculum .studies and the publishing of
Christian textbooks and teacher aids. We
solicit, funds and support the work and pro-
gram of CSI promoting Christian education
in Canada for the benefit of member 'CSI
schools," .he said. .•
The rally is .co-sponsored by Clinton and
District Christian School Society in conjunc-
tion with their 25th anniversary. Alsti. par-'
ticipating are Exeter, Huron and Wingham
Christian School Societies.,

A federal -provincial job creation program
will allow 21 workers in southyve'. tern On-
tario to help i01provt' forestry 7prujects and
upgrade conservation areas
The projects provide the workers ,an
average of 13. weeks each fur such activities
as silviculture management, pruning trees,
road maintenance, and docurtientation of
wetland areas. The total cost of $140,731 will
be shared by the federal and provincial
governments as well as project sponsors.
"This type of fol, creation program helps
Ontario to improve both the forestry sector
and conservation areas, as well as giving
workers some timely' employment," said
Ontario Natural Resources Minister Vin-
cerrt Kerrio.
The projects also include the.construction
nfvwashroont and shower facilities for the
public at two Conservation areas in the St.
('lair Region Conservation .Authority water-
' shed near Strathruy
".Job creation is vital to our economy
Reducing our rate of unernploy merit with
this type of project is of benefit to us all,"
said Benoit Bouchard, F'e'deral Minister of
Employment and invnigration
The federal -provincial job creation pro-
gram Is jointly funded 1) Eniployrnent and
inimigration Canada and the Ontario
Ministry of Natural Resources, which also
administers the program. Projects areas in-
clude fisheries, wildlife, parks, mines,
forestry and conservation authorities.
The federal government provides t'sorkt'rs
with.unemployment insurance benefits plus
a supplement to a maximum of $318 a' week.
The Ministry of Natural Resources provides
support costs as well as equipment and
materials. The ministry may' also provide a -
wage supplement ti' Match prevailing ware
rates.
