MRS. IRENE CLARICE OKE
Irene Clarice (Hick ) Oke, of 131 Bruce
Street in Goderich, died Sunday, Mch 22
at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital.
She was 95 -years -old.
Born in 1892 at Chestnut Farm on Lot 99 of
Maitland Concession of Goderich Township,
she was a daughter of the late Walter Hick
Jr. and Caroline (Wakefield) Hick.
She married Albert R. Oke and they took
over and farmed her family's (;hestnut
Farm .until his ill health forced a move to
Goderich where he died in March of 1.964,
The late Mrs. Oke was a member of Knox
• Presbyterian Church in Goderich and its
Women's Missionary Society ( WMS ), She
belonged to Rebekah Lodge and the Taylor's
Corner Community Club.
Mrs. Oke was predeceased by her hus-
band, her parents, her only sister Alice Ed-
ward and a nephew, Clayton Edward.
Surviving is.her niece, Mrs. Harold ( Ver-
na ) Blackstone of Goderich and fondly
remembered' by several nieces 'and
nephews.
- Funeral and cornrnittal services were
held at the McCallum and Palla Funeral
Horne today, Wednesday', March 25, with
Rev. G.L. Royal officiating. The Goderich
Rebekah Lodge helda memorial service on
Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
MR. WILMER VERNON NICHOLSON
Mr; Wilmer . Vernon Nicholson, of the
Huronview Home for the Aged and formerly
of Goderich and West Wawanosh Township,
died at Clinton Public Hospital on Sunday,
March 15. He was 84 -years -old.
Born in Ashfield Township on February
20, 19Q3,. he. was a son of- the late James
Nicholson and the former Letitia Cluff. •Itis
wife, the former Ada • Gertrude Gaunt,
predeceased him.':
He .farmed in West' Wawanosh. Township
for a number of years until his retirement.
• Mr..Nicholson was well=known in the com-.
munity, especially in his later years in
Goderich, as a skate sharpener'.. He was a
merriber of the Anglican Church.of Canada.
. Surviving are two' sons, Edwin of
Woodstock and Vernon of London: and one
brother, Albert of Kitchener. Four grand-
children and three great-grandchildren also,'

Members,wers divided into three groups.
One, did vacuuming and, straightening up.
The others d'id • the sinks, stoves and
counters.. and.two washrooms.•
• After. .cleaning the .townshii., hall
thoroughly they did .the meeting in their
books and then planned a trip to any' country
in•the world.. ' •
. The group then snacked and 'discussed'
achievement night, May 6 at 7:30 p:m.
The next meeting will be held on April 13.

WILLIAM BISSETT MOORE
Mr. William. Bissett Moore of Goderich
died at Alexandra Marine .and General
Hospital on Tuesday,' :March 17 at the age of .
75.
Born in Gudcriclt 'Township on. February
20, 1912, he was the son of the late William
Moore and the former Isabella Straughan
Bissett. .Ile married the former Helen
Ferny Hunking, who survives, on June 28,
1941.
My. Moore was -a welder at Champion
Road Machinery for 25 'years before his
retirement. Ile was a member of Victoria
Street United Church, a life rnernber of the
Royiil Canadian Legion Branch 109 in
Goderich, a member of the Quarter Century
Club at Champion' and a veteran of World
War II, -
'Surviv°irig besides his wife are five
daughters, Helen and Doug Johnston of
Wheatley, Evelyn. and Dalton Boyce, of
Goderich, ,hois and Wilfred Chapman of •
Goderich, Linda and Eugene Webber of.Ex-
eter and Pat and Don Johnston of Goderich;
one , son, Bill and Alberta Moore of
Goderich: two l r•others, Bea.of [,pndon and
Bob of Sarnia: and 15 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three sisters, •
Marilyn, Maudie and Clara.
• Funeral and committal' services were
held on Friday, March 20 at the McCallum
and. Palla Funeral, Home with Rev. John
D.M: Wood of Victoria Street United Church
officiating. The Royal Canadian Legion and
Ladies Auxiliary to Branch 109, Goderich;
held aservice on 'Thursday, March 19 at the
'funeral borne. .Interment in Maitland
Cemetcry. •
