Slowpitch league may
expand to 24 teams
Three new teams may be added
Hello again baseball fans - that's right
baseball! Though the season is still
,several weeks away, pians are well under-
. way for this, the eleventh season of mens
slownitch in town.
Tim Frawley' is back for his third term
as President and Rick Duckworth returns,
as, Social Director. Bruce Baker, -
( Brewster ), - returns for another season of
scheduling and paper, write-ups. New to
the executive this year is Dan McLean,
•who will assume the role of treaseter, and
back after a three-year absence is Dave
Cloet, who will act as Past President and
be in charge of diamond development.
The first League. meeting was held
March 8 and it would appear that the
League will expand once again. Pending
the vote at the next meeting, three new
teams could be added - Chisholm TV, the
Cosmos and Lakeview Ranchers. With on-
ly one team folding, that would leave it at
24 teams ••-• a sizeable League indeed.
Rick Duckworth is busy planning a spr-
„ing dance. The tentative date is May.8 at
Saltford. That leaves Saturday as a
recovery date before the season kicks into
gear on Sunday May 10. With upwards of
450 men in our league, you'll have to book
,your tickets early. Talk to your team rep.
Other rumoured activities this year in-
clude a draw, a Casino Night and of course
our annual tournament on the August Ist
weekend. Though not official yet, Earl
Pennington and the Elevator ball team
may have volunteered to run our League
tournament.
Teams with special scheduling requests
are agreed to contact Brewster ASAP as it
will be drawn up as soon as the diamond
situation is clarified. The annual Spring
meeting is to be held Sunday April 12 at
. 2:00 p.m. Amendments to the Constitution
will be voted upon and the balance of team
'entry fee will be collected. I'll have
another report after that meeting. Until
them, get that arm in shape as it appears
this Dvill be our most competitive season
yet!
