You still have time to appeal your 1986 assessment if you feel your home or business property has been improperly assessed. Your assessment is important because the amount of property tax you pay depends on it, in that the assessed value of your property is multiplied by your municipal an school mill rate to determine your 1987 property taxes. Notices of Assessment have been mailed to propert owners and tenants whose assessments have change since last year. Open houses have been held in your are to answer questions,and amend assessment informatio if necessary. Open house dates and locations wer? announced in a previous advertisement. The Assessment Roll has now been delivered to youi- municipality for the purposes of calculating the amount of tax you rnust'pay on your property in 1987. For inform tion on your assessment, the Assessment Roll is no,, available for review at your Municipal Office during reg' lar business hours. If you feel your property has,. bee improperly assessed, and you have not yet made yo r appeal known, you still have until March 19,1987 to deliv:r or mail an appeal' to the Assessment Review Board. The Review Board ais more informal and relaxed than a regular court, of law. You may present your own case, retain a lawyer, or, ask a relative or friend to speak as your agent. Special feature This week we interviewed Mrs. 'Pat.Allen who lives in VLA, the development by the. drive-in in Goderich. ° She lives with her husband Keith and two children Scott and Jennifer. Her son is in "Grade 9 and her daughter if in Grade 12. .Altogether, Mrs. Allen has been teaching for 20 years, some in -Toronto and some in Huron County, some -before her children.. were -born and some since they -have been in ' school. Mrs. Allen is vice-principal at Brookside, teaches a Grade 7 class and .some Phys.Ed 'classes as well as helping organize house ,league .activities. Her interests are garden- ing. cross-country skiing and slowpitch ball. Brookside is fortunate . to have someone with Mts. Allen's talents and versatility an the staff. Her favourite movie is "Teen Wolf" and - get this - because of Michael J. Fox: In, Grade 7, it was a different story. , Deb- bie Draper°likes "Rocky IV"just because she thinks it's a good movie. In Grade 8, we,asked Debbie Nivins who said she liked "Revenge of the Nerds" • because it is a funny movie.
