F or the past decade, the cost of educa-
tion has been shifting from the Province to
the• municipalities. Until such time as the
erosion of Provincial funds ('eases, we
must run a very tight ship.
Running a tight ship is, in itself, not bad.
It ensures that redundant programs die a
quick and painless death. It ensures that
Huron County secondary schools were able
to make a'relatively smooth transition into
the new credit system - unlike many of the
large boards which offered a smorgasbord
of credit options which had to be dropped
to meet the new requirements. 1We never
could afford to go too far away from the
'basic's'. i 'Trimming off the at, has left our
system lean, efficient and close to the peo-
pit' it is designed to serve - our students.
