The proposal made by the hospital's Property Committee and resulted- from discussions .arising with concerns regar . ding smoking in the hospital.. -It is not called' a new smoking lounge. Stan Connelly, chairman of the Property Committee. told board members that the committee had been discussing with the Ambulance Service Branch the possible acquistion of a dual stretcher vehicle for the ambulance service. a "The dual stretcher vehicle will enable, us to properly transport two patients in the ambulance at the same time. 'At present. both of our vehicles are single stretcher ' vehicles and while two patients can be car- ried, it is extremely difficult." he said, .The hoard Was made aware that the dual stretcher vehicles would nc t fit in the pre- sent ambulance garage an 'that modifica- tions were necessary should such a yehicle be purchased. We will be obtaining prices for the proposed work and submitting these to the Ministry and asking for writ- ten approval for funding. prior to pro- ceeding with the project," he said, adding payment of the necessary funds must be made to.the hospital by March 31, 198. Renovations to the garage would include the following: 1. Replacem'eiit of the present doors and automatic openers with larger doors. 2. The present roof would have to he removed and raised to accomodate Lae higher vehicles. 3. ;1 gas line which feeds the boilers and presently runs across the top of. the building would have to be removed and in- stalled over the new roof.
